What you're encouraged to post:
Games! We should talk about games more than anything! New releases, old favorites, Speed Runs, Let's Play's, development news, what we love, what we hate and so on and so forth.
Try to post things that create discussion. We want people to feel engaged and feel their voices are heard, rather than to be a place of disposable content.

why is the n64 so problematic? It's been a year or two since I've messed around with them, but the 64 always has problems.

Really? Most of the games I play are PS2 and GC titles so I can't speak much of the n64 front but from what I have seen Mupen64Plus works fine.
What emulator are you using? Are you sure you have the settings right? I have found that with some games little tweaks and fixes make a huge difference so if a particular title is giving you problems I would search your emulators wiki for tips.

I don't even remember; I tried a few. The settings were what pissed me off at first: I don't want all these hi-res filters and BS--just the game as it was made. The last one, I was playing Banjo-Tooie (which was one that I missed back in the day), after it crashed and I lost a lot of saved data I just said "fuck it." But, the 64 is the one emulator of a lesser-hardware machine I have historically always had trouble with. It also seems weird how some games don't have roms (e.x. Rouge Squadron 2)--it kind of baffles me. Nintendo just has some weird pirating hiccups: the DS for example [now that I think about it], always runs with super shitty frame rates (my guess is because of the two screens--but even when I had a good graphics card no dice); {those games are better on a hacked 3ds anyway}
