What you're encouraged to post:
Games! We should talk about games more than anything! New releases, old favorites, Speed Runs, Let's Play's, development news, what we love, what we hate and so on and so forth.
Try to post things that create discussion. We want people to feel engaged and feel their voices are heard, rather than to be a place of disposable content.
If you're not sure, ask!
If you wish to, you can archive your posts here.

i want to get online multiplayer working, but i'll need to get the software packet figured out first

Are you using TCP or a UDP?
I would recommend not going the easy route and taking the trusted client, it's too easy to cheat. Calculations should always be done server side.

so, i should get one players game acting as the server then run other players off that?
i know how to build a single player game at this point, but not how to wire in multiplayer online

Free 2 play worked well within the last 14 or so years. What changed were the asshats decided to slap a 60 dollar price tag on games with the exact same mechanisms of f2p games and the sheep expectedly bought into it.
Now even less is sold to players and is repurposed as "road map" content. Moreover, given how politicized games have gotten at the cost of competence in overall game development, you would have to be fucking retarded to keep giving them your money.
Look at many mainstream gaming forums. They always circlejerk about graphics and political shit, rarely will there be any discussion or retrospective of games or advancement in game mecahnics.
