“We aren’t forcing people to use our shitty launcher, we are just doing this because Valvo bad.”

"Gamers" Are probably going to flame me for this opinion but Valve deserves it. IF there was not value or a market for saying fuck you to Valve this situation would have never been a thing. It just goes to show you that Valve has been taking advantage of its position and is going to pay the price until they accept that there can be market competition.
BTW In no way do I support the anti-consumer and spying practices of a shady Communist Chinese proxy company. I am just smart enough to understand Valve did this to its self.

Valve didn't do shit. Yeah, there's a "market" for saying fuck you to Valve, but that's because there are people that would say fuck you to to anything for the sake of saying fuck you. If Valve had truly had bad behavior, you'd be seeing a dozen potential competitors and not just one.

No matter how much your feelings get hurt, the simple truth is developers would not go to Epic in such a way unless the MONEY is there.
What we know Valve has been doing is increasing the cut they take from sales on their platform even when said game/product does not use steam services beyond drm management and market platform.
If Valve had/has more competition they cant enforce such a large cut anymore making it more economically feasible for Devs and publishers to chose them over other platforms for sale.
Keep crying about "Valve didn't do shit" when they drove this issue in the first place. GOG, Epic, Origin, Uplay, and other non western focused platforms will keep doing what they do.

If they were doing this for the benefit of consumers they wouldn't have gotten you to mention their behavior on that front. This is them trying to lay the blame on others for their actions.
Saying they did exclusives s because valve takes bigger cuts is Bs. If the cut was the only reason there would not be a restriction on the game it would just be sold on epic with the option of the dev to release on any other platform they wanted at any time.

Conveniently ignoring that the Devs agreed to the exclusivity deal. If the cut from Valve was a non-issue then the devs would trust being able to make money off both platforms.
Epic made an attractive offer to the Devs if not for Valve's recent increases to their cut the Devs would not have taken it. Should Valve have not been doing what they have been doing Epic could have never made the offer. Two sides of the same coin, each platform wants their own cut. The difference is how soy boys get offended by it.

Or they could just fucking stop.
[–] Thrus2 ago
No they wouldn't. They would just point a Bethesda or early or Ubisoft and say they have exclusives on their store so it is okay for us as well.
[–] Zero_the_Unicorn ago
Are they for fucking serious? They know they can't survive the competition with their shitty service, bad security and chinese data sellers.
