So it's... DwarfFortress but Zombie edition, and it's good?

Sort of, and yes. Dorf Fort is the inevitable decline into chaos with tons of dorfs and sitting in one location. I mean, there is that DF adventure mode, but few people play that, if that's what you're referring to. In CDDA, it's just you, although you can interact with the odd NPC here and there. Everything is turn based and tile based, everything is exactly as you'd expect in an actual roguelike. And yes, as far as roguelikes go, it has one of the zaniest, Lovecraftian-in-modern-day settings of any roguelike and one of the best atmospheres. You can build a fortified, impenetrable fortress if you want, but most players seem to prefer working their way up to crafting a mobile death base on treads, which makes more sense because it allows you to move to new areas and pillage houses.
In any case, it's good. Of all the RLs I've played, I'd put it in the top 2 with Caves of Qud. If you try it out, play your first time without hordes. Hordes are basically moving spawn points on the overworld map, and in gameplay terms it means that NO location is EVER safe. However, with hordes off, anything you kill is dead for good (unless you don't pulp the corpse...every infected thing you kill gets back up after a day or two unless you smash the body to a paste), so you can clear an area of enemies and make it almost permanently safe. It's meant to be played with hordes but that can be rough for someone who doesn't know what they're doing yet.
