I didnt know anything about spore before playing it and I really enjoyed it. What were you disappointed with in general? It seemed pretty targeted at young gamers. Were you expecting it to be more hardcore?

If you can find the original preview video you'll understand why.

Edit: here it is

The game delivered about 10% of what was promised. It was dumbed down for a broader audience and development was rushed toward the end. It was meant to be a brutal evolution simulator type game where you take a species from single cell to universe domination. It wasn't meant to be so stilted and nonfluid between phases. EA realized the game wouldn't appeal to children (largely because of the violence originally planned) so they cut out most of the game and released one of the gaming industry's biggest disappointments. The only way to truly enjoy the game is to not know anything about it and not expect much out of it.

Notice the bloody hunting scene in this original trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4V3hcXQgVw4. That was even after it had been dumbed down significantly.

Personally I've decided to boycott Gearbox until they give me my money back. They haven't replied.

I enjoyed it for what it was. Definitely a rental though. Duke 3D had staying power for me with its level building tool and kick ass LAN multiplayer. Forever had awful multiplayer.

Shhh, we no longer talk about that "game" anymore. Some things are better left under the rug

I was stunned how bad the game was. I bought it over L.A. Noire and it has been the worst decision in my life.

Sonic the Hedgehog (2006).

It got great reviews when the reviewers were told that the bugs and loading screens would be fixed by the games release. Unfortunately, the bugs and loading screens weren't fixed.

Brink... Brink was the beginning of the "don't preorder" mantra for myself and a few of my friends. Such a good game in concept, especially the movement. Had a developer with a good game history as well. Just so many glitches and issues that didn't get fixed until the community had already moved on. Oh well, hopefully Dirty Bomb will bring back a great Splash Damage game!

I picked up brink for $40 dollars the day after release because people were already returning them. Enjoyed it for a while mainly becuase I enjoyed the story and general feel of the game. (Rebels vs establishment or whatever it was). The rebel characters were also really fun to customize and the aesthetics were really nice. I think I only put about 15 hours in so I wouldn't quite say it was worth it.

So many things in the game were really cool. The general feel you mention and the customization was cool. I wish the customization was more varied, as in the end; you just used the same guns and attachments all the time because there were few that were obviously better than most. The levels were mostly well put together. I just wish it was better put together technically. It was so hard to join a match on PC in the beginning, and the performance at the time was terrible for how the game looked. I'm hoping Dirty Bomb brings the best of Brink and makes the worst work; but I'm not getting my hopes up so they can't be destroyed...

FFXIII. I ended up beating the game due to Stockholm syndrome. It wasn't even the linear hallways that did it for me (although that didn't help). It was the unlikable characters, the mess of a plot (even for FF), and the boring fights.

For me it was the story on rails that killed it for me. Once you can explore it's too little too late. I also didn't care for the combat, but every FF tries something new with combat, sometimes they succeed sometimes they don't. I'm actually worried that the FFVII remake is going to drastically change the combat.

I want more of a XII return in terms of combat. XII I could almost press X the entire time and win 90 percent of the fights. The story was pretty typical since X and I do very much like XIII more than X, but the combat system as interesting as it is, is unnecessary. Back when it launched the devs talked about why they tried to speed it up to take better advantage of higher frame rates and resolutions but they should have dropped it back a hair or maybe scaled up the difficulty so you would have to really use the full breadth of the combat system.

Watch Dogs. I loved the idea of open world Hacking Game. I loved the vaguely futuristic (10-20 years in the future) setting. It had so much potential and looked like it was going to be awesome. Then the story was so boring I didn't even play it all the way through. The physics were horrible and the city felt dead. Worst of all the hacking was boring and didn't add much to the game itself.

Yep, Watch Dogs is also the one for me. It looked really cool and the hacking part sounded interesting. Instead we got a game with a boring, story, characters who were as interesting as plain rocks, press Q to win, poor AI and so on.

Ugh. That game was so boring! I split my time between playing and watching the BF play. Let's just say I caught up on some much needed sleep as he played through it, trying to find some redeeming qualities.

I picked up Watch Dogs for cheap at the last Steam Sale, and I love it because I didn't have any expectations of it. It's not the best game I've ever played, but it's a lot of fun to run around trolling the populace.

Fallout 3.

Years of waiting for sequel, and then bethesda releases that fucking abortion.

You mean besides the obbviously shitty gamebryo engine, shitty ui, one of the worst FPS mechanics in a AAA title, the complete lorerape and..

Fuck it, theres and old picture that sums most of it.

PS. New Vegas had the same problems with the engine, but the setting was lightyears better than anything bethesda could have whipped out.
