The problem with desktop Linux is that it's copying a fucking nightmare of an experience. It's no wonder that the only successful Linux in user space is Android, which removed the horrible UI experience, and had an app strategy that just worked.

And no surprise that the next gen stuff will dump Linux all together.

That is definitely a problem the developers intentionally did. They want Linux to remain the "elitist" OS that shuns anyone not part of the fad (Linux in its current state is a fucking FAD).

It's generally great for servers and being a router, which is what Unix was for and what Linux was set to emulate. To get passed those usage situations it needs to be made to do so. We all prefer the option of not having to write down/print directions for the CLI (from a 2nd computer, that's a fucking LUXURY) to fix something that broke all too easily, sometimes for no reason at all other than trying to find a working video card driver.
