Oh cool, another card game.

[–] killercanuck 1 points 5 points (+6|-1) ago

No another rebranded mod that's probably a rip off of pubg or fortnite. With plenty of micro transactions for the goys.

[–] ForgotMyGoat 0 points 0 points (+0|-0) ago

Serious question. When was the last time Valve made an new original game start to finish?

Left 4 dead started out as a mod, so did Counter-strike, Dota 2 as well, same with Team Fortress.

Portal started out being made by some students who valve bought out.

Have they made anything on their own since half-life? I can't think of anything. Seems like their business model revolves around picking up talents and absorbing their projects into some kind of remake factory.

[–] Cat-hax 0 points 1 points (+1|-0) ago

Yeah its the new thing, to bad for them I don't play these games.

[–] Schreiber 0 points 1 points (+1|-0) ago  (edited ago)

Blame the idiots who gave Blizzard a fuck ton of money through that Hearthstone scam.

Now everybody wants a piece of the pie called "digital ccg."

[–] totes_magotes 1 points 11 points (+12|-1) ago

Fuck that fatass. He ripped the gaming community apart with the whole "Paid Mods" bullshit.

[–] Titus-of-Voat 0 points 10 points (+10|-0) ago  (edited ago)

If Valve was smart they would release HL3 as a VR game. It's a huge title and could encourage people to buy into Steam's VR hardware. Additionally the wait for HL3 has been so long, it really needs to be a ground breaking experience or it will be panned.

[–] Motoko 0 points 4 points (+4|-0) ago

Gabe has said himself they're not going to invest shit into VR because it's a void market

[–] Titus-of-Voat 0 points 1 points (+1|-0) ago

I think it's just a matter of the hardware being more widespread (cheaper).

[–] roguevert 0 points 0 points (+0|-0) ago

WTF are you talking about?

3 new VR games is 'not going to invest shit into VR'?. Valve is the one creating the open VR standards.

Don't just talk out your stupid ass w/o any connection to reality niggerfaggotkike.

[–] DeadFox 3 points -3 points (+0|-3) ago  (edited ago)

VR is the future lmao They're an outdated/dead company tbh

[–] Ialwayssaythis 0 points 1 points (+1|-0) ago

If they released half life 3 I wouldn't buy it. Fuck them.

[–] CM30 0 points 5 points (+5|-0) ago

Shouldn't they have err... not stopped making games to begin with? Seriously, ever since their focus on Steam and updates, Valve has been terrible at actually building anything of interest.

The fact the new stuff is apparently VR related isn't giving me much confidence either...

[–] Broc_Lia 0 points 5 points (+5|-0) ago

I'd rather have steam than HL3 tbh.

[–] MaunaLoona 0 points 2 points (+2|-0) ago

It's what you get with a "flat management structure". Everyone does what they want, which means they fiddle around with the latest tech like VR and never release a finished product.

[–] truthwoke33 0 points 0 points (+0|-0) ago  (edited ago)

This is a marketing PR lie. Valve does not actually work this way. The company has spread many lies to retain good PR standing.

That so called leaked employee handbook was a fabrication they made.

Gabe Newell is a fat jew, don't believe his lies.

[–] truthwoke33 0 points 0 points (+0|-0) ago

Why build something interesting when you can build a money trap that vacuums billions of dollars?

That fat cunt Gabe lost his soul at some point, and now he's going to die a has been of diabetes.

[–] TestForScience 0 points 4 points (+4|-0) ago  (edited ago)

They already released the story for half life three. I posted it a while back, lemme find the link...
EDIT: Found it https://github.com/Jackathan/MarcLaidlaw-Epistle3/blob/master/Epistle3_Corrected.md

[–] Project2501 0 points 4 points (+4|-0) ago

I thought that was Half Life 2: Episode 3 that they released the story for, because dude left valve. http://www.marclaidlaw.com/epistle-3/ https://archive.fo/1qpGj

Half Life 2 Episode 2 was released over ten years ago. Every year that passes, the teenagers that played HL2 are going to be pushing past 30. I know personally its been probably closer to a decade since I have even considered booting up HL2. They needed to release something with the Half Life title in the span of 2011-2014. HL3 is just a joke. We're talking Duke Nukem Forever territory.

[–] Chimaira92 0 points 1 points (+1|-0) ago

Except 'Duke Nukem Forever' suffered from completely different issues such as switching development teams and having to start from scratch several times (IIRC)

I'm one of those 90's kids who grew up playing Duke Nukem 64 more then any other game. All it took was for me to watch the trailer for me to know it was not even in the same league as the old DK games.

If anything, Serious Sam was the only thing to come close to replicating the DK64 vibe.

[–] TestForScience 0 points 1 points (+1|-0) ago  (edited ago)

Well, if I remember correctly, back from when I posted that original link, the devs that commented about the released script said that it WAS the end, especially since it has Gordon fading into obscurity and, though not actually outright stated, dies of old age.
You may say that it could be continued from from someone else’s point of view, but I believe the story of Half Life IS Gordon’s story, regardless of what all it encompasses.
It would be great if I was wrong though, I would love a playable conclusion to the story, even if it isn’t an FPS puzzle/platform/physics game.
EDIT: I get that at this point the whole idea is just a novelty, but there are some people out there that are dying for this game. A couple years back there was some Youtuber crying and screaming about how it WILL happen someday, and this dude wasn’t some parody/jokester, he was one of those E-news dudes.

[–] Ialwayssaythis 0 points 1 points (+1|-0) ago

That was the saddest thing I have read in months.

[–] TestForScience 0 points 1 points (+1|-0) ago  (edited ago)

I thought it was a touching send off too. And by ‘touching send off,’ I mean, ‘The way they writ off one of the most famous characters in recent video game culture was a punch in the feels.’

[–] Pulverizor 0 points 3 points (+3|-0) ago

Make more portals.

[–] zogster 0 points 0 points (+0|-0) ago

Every single one of the head writers for the Portal games has left Valve

[–] birds_sing 0 points 3 points (+3|-0) ago

I never understood why people ask for Half-Life 3.

You have half a life, then you have the other half. That's a full life. You can't have another half because that would be one and a half lives.

If they had made One Third-Life, then yeah you could have 3. Or Quarter-Life, you could have 4. But with half, you can only have 2.

This is common sense here people.

[–] DestroyerOfSaturn 0 points 4 points (+4|-0) ago

Some of players are kittens and demand 9 half lives

[–] Diathorus 1 points 3 points (+4|-1) ago

''Valve was building three VR games.''

Yeah..... no thank you. It's nice that VR is gonna be getting hopefully some quality games but I don't see myself ever switching over from normal PC gaming.

[–] ForgotMyName 0 points 8 points (+8|-0) ago

VR takes up too much space to do it properly. It's what I call the "Rock Band problem." That entire genre died in part because people got tired of having a living room full of plastic instruments. VR is even worse.

[–] FlamingoBumblebee 0 points 5 points (+5|-0) ago

yeah its never gonna replace standard gaming. vr will be a very small niche market for a while.

[–] AmazingFlightLizard 0 points 1 points (+1|-0) ago

I wasn’t sure about VR but I got a Vive anyways. It’s a fucking blast. Rec Room, a free game is one of the most amazing experiences in gaming since I started on the Atari 2600.

[–] roguevert 0 points 1 points (+1|-0) ago

hear so many retards saying it's a fad...

yup, just like the internet...
