It doesn't even have to be out yet to be GOTY.

I'm hoping that it does get GOTY so that we can get a PS4 GOTY edition with juicy DLC's.

I'm scared of the hype, but at the same time I can't help but embrace the hype.

Hype. Hype never changes.

Schrödinger's Hype. Until the game's released, we can't know if the hype's warranted or not ;)

I definitely think The Witcher 3 is the best game this year. Anyone agree or disagree?

The sheer amount of content in that game is amazing but what really impressed me is the fact that it never felt like it was giving me too many quest and becoming bloated but it still felt like it had lots of options. The questing was just super well paced.

I think The Witcher 3 deserved to win because it is a fantastic game. But now I am certain Fallout 4 will win don't get me wrong I love Fallout and the hype. However even if Fallout 4 is terrible it will still most likely win based on hype.

Its the best...at the moment. The sheer quality and quantity of work that went into it is staggering for sure. I think Fallout will be the game to beat though. I base this on its hype and past works by bethesda, so I can definitely be wrong, but I think its safe to say Fallout is coming in with some momentum.

I'd agree, it has to be the game I've enjoyed most in the past few years. The amount of open world they put in without making it feel empty I found amazing, the characters were well written and although the combat could be a bit clunky at times it was perfectly enjoyable with a mix of melee and magic.

Since people are throwing out fallout despite it not being out, I will throw out Metal Gear Solid V The Phantom Pain.

I legitimately believe this game will be looked at for decades as one of the best pieces of interactive media ever created.

This. I have no idea why people sleep on MGS so much.

Agreed. MGS V will blow every other game out of the water.

Bloodborne. Way to much fun. It's the kinda game I'm going to play through once a year even though I have my platinum.

the best game I've played this year is easily Splatoon. An amazingly fun and original title that has blown away all expectations. It's charming, fun and addictive and while some may not like the content roll out it has helped keep it fresh to me.

For me, there hasn't been anything of note yet; the only real contender is Witcher 3, but having never been a fan of those games I can't even call that GOTY either. I would say Halo Online (El Dewrito version), but it isn't exactly in a released state. Maybe if we just pretend Elite Dangerous came out in 2015, I guess?

It wouldn't let me post this, but I say Crypt of the Necrodancer is my current pick for 2015 Game of the Year.
