Gonna have to get wipeout!

I wish I hadn't already played minecraft and don't starve on pc. Both games might be worth re buying for a a handheld...

Is Metal Gear Solid 3 that good? I ask because I could just get the ps2 versions of MGS for the vita

[–] TheUltimateQuakerII 0 points 1 points (+1|-0) ago

Wipeout is an instant staple for sure. You'll love it.

I've wished i haven't already played MC/DS... get it for for handheld

Minecraft is minecraft. If you liked the PC version you'll like the portable version.

is MGS3 that good?

I've owned a Vita since the first 3g version came out in early 2012. MGS3 for sure is one of the better Vita games available currently, and still holds up well for its age. The Vita version is a remastered/enchanced version of the older PS2 version. Since you have a Vita, id recommend you get the Vita version.

"Metal Gear Solid HD" is the release for the Vita.

It contains enhanced versions of MGS2 and MGS3, as well as the older Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake, which were originally released on the MSX.

If you haven't played Metal Gear Solid 1 on the original Playstation, then MGS2 will probably make no sense whatsoever, but MGS3 can stand on its own and is a really cool game with an interesting political spy vs spy kind of story. The MGS3 story also takes place decades before the events of MGS1 and MGS2, so in theory you could play MGS3 and if you like it, go back to MGS1 and MGS2, though that's not the "pure" way to experience it the series, if that matters.

If you wanted to start with MGS1 on the Vita, it's possible to get it, but tricky... you need to purchase/download it on a PS3, then transfer it to the Vita. I would recommend playing MGS1 one way or another some day (original disc is playable on PS2) because it's a significant piece of video game history, and because MGS2 would make a lot more sense so you'd be able to enjoy it fully (the story has been damn near prophetic with the way the world has changed since its release).

MGS1 was also remade with updated graphics on the Nintendo Gamecube as "Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes," so that's another option for playing MGS1.

I'm currently playing God Eater Resurrection (PSN sale) and I've had so much fun playing with friends!

Avoid Freedom Wars. The ending is so badly written. The multiplayer is still alive though.

Wipeout 2048 is too hard :/

Deception IV: The Nightmare Princess is fun!

Hyperdevotion Noire is a nice turn-based RPG.

Hatsune Miku Project Diva F2 is a game that you can just pick up and play whenever. I love it!

Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth and Digimon Story: Hacker's Memory (if you grew up watching Digimon).

Conception II (if you want to feel like a dad).

Don't forget to buy a case for it and a screen protector!

If you're having trouble with the wifi strength, try changing the DNS to Google's or OpenDNS (I forgot the article that discussed this, try googling "PS Vita wifi").

Also, keep an eye on the weekly PSN store sales. Some great games can be bought for less than 10 USD.

Can these run CFW?

[–] Chiefpacman [S] 0 points 0 points (+0|-0) ago  (edited ago)

Depends on if its been updated

No one has cracked the newest version of firmware, it will probably happen eventually. You generally have to pay more for a system that is not updated, if the seller knows what he has.

Hate to link over there, but https://www.reddit.com/r/vitahacks/ has a great side bar for resources on this.

Also, are they still making new games for it

Yes there still producing new VITA games, but the library is mostly Japanese made games getting released now. Its mostly RPGs (think Neptunia series) or VN's (think Stiensgate/dragonropa). Not much "western style" games since 2015. If those are the games you enjoy, you should pick up a VITA as it can also play PS1/PSP games and emulate a few other older systems.

I bought it used.

I got the system, a case, 5 games, and 20gb of memory cards for $150.

I’d been looking for a while. The catch is the memory cards, they can be a bit expensive. Its a specific memory card to the ps vita. $50 for 36 gb from sony online I believe.

They are still making games I believe. Sony allows alot of indie devs that are otherwise regulated to Steam, develope games for it. Any PS1, PS2 for PSP game that is on the PS store can be played.

Earlier than 3.60 FW? Henkaku Enzo /SD2VITA

Edit nevermind lol. Buy two and do it

[–] Chiefpacman [S] 0 points 1 points (+1|-0) ago

No its later. Do you have one?

But I could get a portable nvidia shield or a chinese knock off, if I wanted to emulate games.

[–] voats4goats 0 points 1 points (+1|-0) ago  (edited ago)

Doesn't just let you play emulators. You can convert the Vita slot to and micro SD and add a 128gb card instead of having to pay the Sony tax. Even rip the Vita game onto the system.

Obviously only for 'legit' purposes.. ;) Don't plan on online play/PS Store if you do it as Sony will ban your account and if it's tied to a PS4, etc you will be having a bad time since they'll revoke your access to all your purchased content

If you want game emulation on the go, I highly suggest the GPD XD. There's now a Plus version with double the ram and slightly better processor out now. If that's too rich for your blood the OG GPD XD still runs well.

You'll be able to emulate all the way up to the 32bit consoles comfortably even SEGA SATURN. Yes I wrote the correctly. Some Saturn games run and even alot of N64 games run exceptionally well

Edit: Also alot of Dreamcast titles work amazing well

What types of games do you like? If there were ps1 games you liked they are probably available. I've never owned a psp so I can't recommend anything. As far as exclusives go, I have Uncharted Golden Abyss, Killzone mercenary, and Persona 4 Golden. I liked all of them. Uncharted and Killzone utilize the touchscreen very well.

I used to be a console guy but for the last 10 years or so I play PC. I mostly play strategy games, rts, turn based, and city builders.

Not a big FPS guy. But for the Vita I am willing to try different games. What were some of your favorite games on ps2? I bought a ps2 years after the fact./ missed out on some good games
