Alright, so I played and finished MGS V over the holidays.
A lot of good things to say, the gameplay dynamics were terrific. The story through Chapter 1 is also engrossing and interesting. Now obviously I had heard some things about the game, while avoiding spoilers, I did know that the whole Kojima fires/leaves Konami occurred mid-production of MGS V.
People say Kojima was going over budget, but IMO I wouldn't be surprised to find out that Konami did not approve of the some of the content he had planned. And they couldn't censor him fully, due to his creative control, so they had to ask him to leave/get rid of him.
Well, what would be that controversial enough to force such drastic action?
Two things come to mind, right off the bat. I don't think the 'vocal parasites' was exactly what Kojima had in mind, I could be wrong. Seems like he wanted to cover both the development of (targeted) bio-weapons and the topic of information control (this is a major theme in Metal Gear overall). Mid 80s did see the rise of AIDS, for example. 1984 is known for the book 1984, as well. My hypothesis being that the two topics were combined, not necessarily by Kojima, and results in neither topic being explored all that deeply. And why it comes across as half-baked and anti-climactic.
The other topic that may have been censored/controversial would be the development of nuclear weapons by smaller states, which is a theme in the game (or private mercenary groups specifically), and South Africa is mentioned. Well... South Africa was actually developing nuclear weapons hand in hand with... Israel. Which is not mentioned anywhere in Metal Gear that I can find. This then brings us to the Samson Option, the idea of blackmailing governments around the world, by locating nukes in your enemy's cities, in hidden/safe locations, which is then used to extort and threaten your enemies.
"Give us $1 billion a year, we will call it a grant, aid that does not have to be repaid, or prepare for disaster."
Any other ideas?

Witnesses won't know what a suit case nuke looks like 99% of the time. It looks so much like a suit case should. It's good at it's job. Fooling the sheep to the slaughter. The witnesses that keep "dying" are the ones who saw multiple shooters and maybe what weapons the gunmen had or what class of weapons they had like sub machine gun, assault rifle, etc. And they may have seen too much of what the shooters look like or the shooters outfit or gear or nationality. And i know there were 3 black vans or SUV's the /pol/ blackwater anon told us to look out for that might finally shed more light on everything.
