You can solve most of these problems by waiting to buy games a year after launch, when the game is actually patched of its bugs, includes all DLC, and is half price. It's called Game of the Year edition, and you should think of it as the official release. Buying games before they include DLC is basically crowd funding the beta version.

Best advice for this for sure. I just bought Mafia 3 and Mad Max for PC for less than £10.

I called Mafia III a SJW game as soon as they released the first info on it. I was so right. I wont ever buy that POS game. Sad too because the I actually liked the first two Mafia games. Its looking like Farcry is following suit and making a redneck christian-killing-simulator.

Goodluck with Mafia 3, that game is the most repetitive piece of shit in existence. Couldn't make it a quarter of the story without getting extremely bored. Haven't touched it in a year. Seriously Goodluck

Even though CDPR is trustworthy I did this with Witcher 3 and finally bought it late last year. Still haven't even started it yet. I know it's epic but still I'm going to wait until I buy some new parts. My i7 3770k / DDR3 base setup is long in the tooth now. I know with my 980ti I can already run it well enough but I plan to upgrade the base components sometime in 2018. Worth the wait I feel. While everyone else is playing Cyberpunk 2077 for the first time I'll be clearing W3 while I wait for 2077's eventual GOTY / Final edition.

I guess the other benefit of buying W3 well and truly down the line from its release date (aside from its fantastic story, as someone who dropped 154 hours into the main game and DLC, you are in for an absolute treat) is that you signal to gaming companies that if they do it right, they don't have to try and desperately grab cash in the first week like a fucking Hollywood SJW lecture, they'll get continuing sales, i.e. a continuing stream of income, for several years afterward. That in turn allows them to invest with more certainty about where their next paycheck is coming from.

All of that said: since the gaming companies have no loyalty to you, show them no loyalty either. If 2077 sucks, don't give them a chance with 2077 Part II, drop the company entirely until they get their shit together again. Demand excellence from gaming companies and eventually you'll get it -- as CDPR's existence proves.

For what it's worth, Geralt runs like a champ on my 3770k/980ti at 1920x1200. If you're not in a rush though that's cool too, it'll still be fantastic when you have the time to get in there. First game I've bought the dlc for too, they put nice story in.

Yeah, this is what I have done for years. I think I bought two games on release and they were both buggy messes and after that just said "nope" and wait for everything to go on sale.

The unfortunate side is we have too many people in this current culture who aren't willing to wait for that delayed gratification and want everything immediately.

Impulse tax. I like the sound if that.

Your exactly right. I stopped buying the new games and systems when I realized they were selling me incomplete products at full price. Total bullshit. I'd rather do without it and wait for a year than get get ripped off and pay for each "update" as if they were an entirely new game, when they should have released then all for the purchase price. Playstation pissed me off so much with their $50 completely bugged games that I sold my PS3 and pulled out my original NES... guess what no patches, updates or internet access needed. :)
