Have not played Witcher 3 yet. Are you saying that all enemies in the game are actually invaders from Dark Souls?

I've played all 3 Witcher games, and can honestly say part 3 is definitely worth getting, even if you hated the controls in 1 and 2 (which I personally did).

The controls aren't perfect, as they're catered towards console as well as PC, and thus developed for console 1st and then ported to PC.

That said, the game is amazing, there's a ton of things to do, the graphics look great, the story is interesting, and it is very immersive.

The unique potion and linking-skills-to-item system is refreshing when compared to other games.

Cutscenes are plentiful, even in side quests, but never annoying or overly long and most always complement the story and particular endeavor you're undertaking.

Personally I feel that when combat feels like the OP's gif, you're doing it wrong.

Yeah, I've already bought it! Mostly from being addicted to miracle of sound's song on it. Just haven't gotten around to playing it, currently addicted to all the new stuff added into Terraria.

Also still haven't yet finished the 2nd one, which was why I hadn't started it before 1.3 launched.

wow. even if the controls were built for console first, shit, they suck. movement control is downright awful at best. And no jumping while your sword is at? WTF, man? Other than that, it's a decent game. i wanna get yennefer to marry me.

the best thing is witcher 3 is on sale on greenmangaming right now for $30 in their vip section.

I own it for ps4, but a friend of mine is borrowing it right now while I power through batman arkham knight.

so I bought it on pc to play in the meanwhile, once I finish batman.

It's almost overwhelming. Because there's so much stuff to do, I don't even know where to begin. I just end up ransacking villages for hours trying to figure out what I want to do.

Personally I feel that when combat feels like the OP's gif, you're doing it wrong

Yeah, that is what I looked like when I first started playing, after I got a better feel for combat, it looks pretty badass and feels amazing.

No. The enemies are hard at low levels like Dark souls. But they don't scale with you. So in certain places you can be a level 30 and fighting level 9 enemies. The game is visually incredible quests are satisfying. and its very easy to get caught up in the lore.

CDPR are very good at what they do.

Where are the low levels of the game? I'm getting my ass handed to me by level 10's..

The Witcher 2 combat was way worse about this.

I really enjoy The Witcher 3 combat system with the simple addition of the side step fights don't devolve into a rolling match.

I recently found this video detailing the mechanics of the system it helped me alot.

Wow that video was so useful, I didn't know about anything in it until now. That enraged counter attack thing that the hounds of the wild hunt do gets me all the time and I never realised the pattern for when they did it. Thanks for the link!

Yeah it was! Witcher 2 was like tumbling simulator 2011. The third one is much better, but it still feels a bit unsatisfying to me.

Especially because rolling was faster than walking/jogging. There was no reason not to go full katamari.

I feel like Dark Souls PvP is way worse at this.

Wait so this isn't a joke? Fights used to literally devolve into rolling matches on a frequent basis?

In The Witcher 2 rolling was used to close distance or create distance and obviously roll out of enemy attacks

The game didn't do a great job telling you that there was a parry mechanic I believe it might have been hidden behind the perk system. Many new players would just roll around instead of parrying.

The game also spawned packs of enemies in tight spots forcing you to create distance and survey the situation before attacking.

If you are using all the game has to offer (bombs, potions, rolling, signs, etc) combat was a breeze see this video (video contains major Witcher 2 spoilers)

I found this video if you don't want to be spoiled that is a bit more accurate on what the combat is like.

But yes there was a lot of rolling in The Witcher 2

"Come on Craig, not this shit again. No one is impressed with your roll move."

"No you didn't invent the roll Craig."

You could stand and fight, but you'd probably die.

This is why I can't play The Witcher any more. Never finished the second one. The combat system fucking blows.

Everything else is great, but I can't get passed how awful it is to fight.

This gif reminds me of Dark Souls with the fat rolling, but I like those games infinitely more than the Witcher Series.

Have you played Witcher 3? To me they massively upgraded the combat, then again I found Darksouls (both of them, too easy for me) and massively prefer Witcher.. But Witcher 3 is far better.

I haven't yet no, I've watched some videos and it does look better, but I'm not sure I want to spend a bunch of money to find out.

It doesn't look that much different after all.

I'm sort of disappointed in the lack of skills you can use. There's what, 5 spells?

I think I'm after something too different. I'm not sure that the changes would be enough for me to enjoy it. I don't like timed clicking to initiate a 3 hit combo and then repeating that ad infinitum. Have they removed that?

There is a combat rework mod for the Witcher 2 by a guy that got hired to work on the combat for Witcher 3 if you install this it's like day and night I can't recommend it enough.

Really?

Maybe I should give this a go. It might color my decision to pick up the third one on a sale.

Thanks for letting me know

Wife and I are both hooked on this game. Yeah the horse is retarded, and console controls are a little clumsy, still a great game. Also side stepping worksbetter than rolling for fist fights.
