I'm a big fan of all the old Microprose strategy games such as Master of Magic, Master of Orion 1 & 2, and any Civ game before 5 killed the series. (X-COM too OFC, but that's more tactics than 4x) I want to believe in a new MOO, but after the pile of fucking fail known as Master of Orion 3, I'm dubious that any new games won't shit in my hope-holes all over again.
I tried pirating NewMOO a while back and was not enthused, but I'm holding out hope that it will turn into a great successor.
Can any fans of the first 2 games, especially MOO2, let me know if the new game is a worthy sequel and/or reboot yet? If not, what does it fuck up the worst?

The remake shares a lot in common with MOO2. I have the new one in my collection, butt the last time I looked at it they were still finishing up features in the game. If you liked MOO2 then the remaster is mostly just a facelift. Where the new one does lose out though is in the combat which is not as good as the original.

That's a shame about the combat. Then again, it is still being worked on. Next time there's a decent sale I'll give it a shot then.
