What you're encouraged to post:
Games! We should talk about games more than anything! New releases, old favorites, Speed Runs, Let's Play's, development news, what we love, what we hate and so on and so forth.
Try to post things that create discussion. We want people to feel engaged and feel their voices are heard, rather than to be a place of disposable content.
If you're not sure, ask!
If you wish to, you can archive your posts here.

Except the big money in marketing isn't aimed at the audience of Youtubers, it's for advertisements on television, physical ones in public, etc. The people who watch gaming youtubers are far more likely to hear about the game either through forums, gaming sites, etc. The point of marketing would be to aim at those who don't watch gaming videos on youtube.
I suspect the amount of marketing money spent on youtubers/twitch streamers is very small in comparison to everything else.

Eh, games like Minecraft were spread purely by word of mouth for years. They just need to make better games and people will talk about them.

True but it's very rare that games will be able to strike gold like that by making a game that can appeal to all ages, etc. and it's very risky when you're spending money making it. When you're spending hundreds of millions making a game, you aren't going to risk a lack of marketing. Indie games are the only ones that really get the luxury of aiming for that because they need so few sales to make their money back.
