I think they intentionally made the women ugly to appease SJWs. Which is fine. Stupid, but fine. I won't be buying it, nor will the SJWs they appeased, so I do wonder where they think they'll be getting any sales.

The manly women are a part of the tranny agenda.

Wouldn't surprise me, can't let people feel awful about themselves because the woman is hot, BUT HOT DAMN GIMME DEM MEN WITH THOSE HAWT HAWT ABS. Fucking hate that level of hypocrisy.

Even worse in comic books, "OH how dare you objectify woman by making them look sexy and suggestive but mm I love me some of Robin's abs with his hair all wet!"

Am I the only one who thinks the lead in ME:A looks like Lena Dunham?

I legitimately thought that was who they modeled the character off of.

I guess in SJWland it makes the most sense to hire an actual model for your main character's likeness and "improve" her with John McCain jaw and Thomas the Tank Engine eyes/facial expressions. Baffling.

Remember when they acquired Maxis, did nothing special with it and then gutted it and made it defunct? Fun times.

That's photoshop on a 2d image.

Not quite as easy as doing the same thing as what they're doing on a wireframe, with skin and polygon count limitations. That said, those models are shit.

As someone that has actually been doing 3d modelling regularly for over a decade - no. Just no. First of all, polygon count means jack all. These models have such high polygon counts that it doesn't even matter. Second of all, if polygon limitations were actually an issue, having a smaller nose would actually work better with less polygons than a larger nose, because the polygon mesh would be denser.

No idea what you meant with skin and wireframe limitations. If you're talking about textures and vertex weighting, then no, it wouldn't really be a problem. Big nose or small nose, it doesn't matter, you weight and texture it the same way. The only problem here is that whoever was doing the 3d sculpting fucked up.

I could fix this in 20 minutes. And that's not an exaggeration. This is sheer incompetence.

Thanks for the informed post. I guess I'm still living in the days of 3DFX cards, where polygon count was limited on models that were densely packed and moving in an environment.

Been doing this professionally for round about a decade myself. As such I'm going going to get a little nit picky with your post. No offense is meant, just want to expand and clarify.

First off, doing a quick paint over in Photoshop, particularly when starting from fairly hi-fidelity source art, is at best an unfair comparison. It's apples and oranges.

Just to be clear, we still care about vertex counts more or less so depending on the game being made, the target frame rate, max character count on screen at a time and other rendering features desired can factor into what those restrictions on vert count will be. Fair point though that with Andromeda's budgets that doesn't matter too much when discussing the quality of the modeling.

Sure you could "fix" it in 20 minutes. Sounds like hyperbole to me but maybe you are super fast, I'll take you at your word on that. I'd wager that the art director would look at your work and ask you to "put it back the way it was". There is a direction in the art here, they weren't going for supermodels but more down to earth, realistic homey type characters. Not super flash, but that's up to them to decide what direction to go in. Blaming the artist for the art direction seems a bit unfair to me. Are there some areas that could be cleaned up and fixed? Sure, but there always will be. If you don't like the art direction that's fair as well but to say the artist screwed up is kind of harsh.

EDIT: fixed some glaring cellphone typos.

Lara Croft in Tomb Raider Anniversary for the PS2 looks way better, there is no excuse besides pandering to SJW fat women as to why they made the women in this game look like total dumpster fire.

This is true, however the devs and artists spent hundreds of hours on the design, direction, and modeling of these game characters. They could of easily chose to make them more feminine like the edit at anytime during that process.

more feminine

This was not their direction. The feminine form is offensive to the SJW.

Haven't you heard... race is a social construct; there are no psychological differences between races, and to cite modern medical science is racist!

Why are the jawbones of all of the women character models fucking huge and jutting out on the sides? I know very few people with jawbones like that...You'd think they'd want the character to be relatable

I think this is really the most important point in this whole debacle.

Christians ask "What would Jesus do?", well, I ask "Would Shepard bang that?".

And the answer is no, no he would not.

I'm gonna pirate it at most.
