What you're encouraged to post:
Games! We should talk about games more than anything! New releases, old favorites, Speed Runs, Let's Play's, development news, what we love, what we hate and so on and so forth.
Try to post things that create discussion. We want people to feel engaged and feel their voices are heard, rather than to be a place of disposable content.
If you're not sure, ask!
If you wish to, you can archive your posts here.

I would like that, but I think it would fit better in a different sub, based on the focus of this one.

I was leaning towards creating a different subverse for it. I just want to get a good name nailed down first.

/v/buggygames? /v/gametester?
[–] Amadameus 0 points 1 point 1 point (+1|-0) ago
If I recall, /r/gamedev was very open to people posting and discussing their builds.
I'd propose we lump it in with /v/gamedev anyway, as a community they're already well qualified to collaborate and talk about it!

As long as we're not paying to be unpaid testers (I still don't understand how that became a thing), it sounds good to me.

This would be a place for developers to supply drm-free, Steam keys, Desura keys, etc. with no charge, but the user who takes the key agrees to give their feedback. No money would ever change hands.

Is Desura any good?
[–] Targren 0 points 2 points 2 points (+2|-0) ago
Then yeah, I like that setup.
(Sorry! Having done software testing/QA for a living before I went dev, I still get a little crotchety at the "pay us to work for us for free" thing!)

Hell yea as long as it's really a game and not some minecraft mod. Last time I was invited to beta a supposedly JRPG and ended up being invited to play minecraft... still don't understand how that happened.

Don't think so. I didn't test it tho. Never played minecraft, not really my thing ;P

For the time being yes, but if it gets out of hand it would be nice to have a separate subverse for it.

I'll echo this comment. I like the idea, but a bit worried about the sub becoming a marketing platform. We can certainly give it a trial though.

I'll wait to see if the mod here responds. If he is okay with it for the time being, I think it could be a good addition. Overall, I think it would be better suited to a new subverse just in case it does get cluttered.

I think it's a great idea! If there ends up being too much spammy things happening then maybe we can do a pinned weekly post that contains all the info in one place. I personally dont' think we have enough traffic just yet to branch it off into a completely new sub.
[–] SelfReferenceParadox 0 points 1 point 1 point (+1|-0) ago
You bet!
[–] ZappyKins 0 points 1 point 1 point (+1|-0) ago
Sure! Maybe a 'testmygame' sub?
[–] DNZe 0 points 1 point 1 point (+1|-0) ago
As long as it's unpaid and just for community feedback, sure. And I think only if it gets popular would it have to get moved to a different subverse
