There's no evidence that Nintendo was involved at all and very good evidence that they weren't: the emulator is still available for PC and Mobile on the Windows store, just not XBox. This is far more likely that Microsoft saw a $10 app that enabled the playing of hundreds of games as a threat to XBox games and cut it off now, also setting the precedent that emulators aren't okay on the XBox W10 store, which is fair because games are supposed to go through the XBox side of things.

As for the developer themselves, I've never been a fan of people repackaging open-source software and selling it like this, especially in direct competition to the free and OS version already available on PC. They can go screw themselves.
