Yeah, why don't they make any RTS anymore ?
Seems like all gaming have to offer these days are AAA milking of franchises and indy games with a built around the stretching of a single simple game mechanism.

Yeah. I really miss Westwood... I don't know of any pure RTS games that are being developed or have been released in the last almost 10 years that aren't open source projects (0AD is getting pretty good) or really small indie games. I don't know why the genre died.

Personally I got turned off any competitive play because people are so good at rushing. Every game against people boils down to rush to attack, game over. No building, no strategy, no tactics.

grey goo (yes, it is an rts game)

they had zero marketing, was buggy as hell in multiplayer on release, and had no map editor (with 4 maps on release)

best part of the game was the campaign story.

the genre died because it's so fucking hard to play RTSs. they're one of the types of games that we still don't have a good controller for, and that's just the physical difficulty, let alone all the on-the-fly strategy and knowledge you need to be anything above shit.

They released a bunch of shitty ones and then the genre died. Even C&C went to shit and had some really bad releases.

because it's very hard to make money on a videogame, let alone a videogame in a relatively unpopular genre.

however, what you perceive is incorrect. there are still plenty of great, high budget games.

Awesome, just Tested it on my laptop running Ubuntu Mate 16.04, and it just flies. wish it had more resolution (to see more detail) but for what it is, and its basically the RA game, I love it.
