I would note that in Adventure Capitalist's case, the purchaseable shit doesn't even help all that much, and that someone calculated it would take like 30 million years to actually complete all the achievements in the game. Good times. Good times.

Realm of the mad god is a truly freemium steam game that just sold from a microtransaction factory to a small company made of fans from the game that want to make it great again. I'm hoping for good things for it now.
