For the last two years I have been building up them dumb cards. WTF are they for? Who buys imaginary cards?

Selling, getting 'badges' to increase your 'Steam Level' and flair on your profile.

It used to actually be potentially profitable to craft the badges during a Steam and sell the sale specific card for more than it cost to craft the badge. But that was back when no one was able to get their free cards until the sale had been going on for 16 hours (3 community choice votes).
Now it's mostly just for bragging rights for having a higher Steam level, though increasing your Steam level does give you additional options for your profile and increases the chance of receiving booster packs (free money). Technically you might be able to come close to breaking even thanks to the increased market cost of emoticons/backgrounds thanks to gems, but nothing like it used to be where you could turn a profit of $0.20-$0.30 per badge.
I just sell whatever cards I get. I haven't bothered to craft any badges (other than hanging on to the last 3-4 days of Steam sale cards to craft one of the badges just to have it on my profile) since the 2014 Winter sale.

Stuff from Digital Homicide is horrible, but at least you can profit selling the cards.

Thanks, these are great, Is there any way to open these links in the steam program thing rather than my browser?
[–] PirateBear 0 points 2 points 2 points (+2|-0) ago
Steam > Settings, got to the Interface tab and check the "Show URL Box" box. Then paste the URL into the new box.
That's the easiest way I know, and it works the other way around if you want to share a link to game or something.

There might be, since I know I've been able to open links sent through Steam to me in a browser in Steam. But I also know that voat links are automatically removed when sent through Steam. So if there is a way, I don't know it.
