They haven't done anything too crazy. The whole article basically just says "this game is big." Plenty of games have done that in the past. It's not their fault that people's imaginations seem to run away with them even when the developers have really said very little about the game.

They call that Spore syndrome, I don't blame you for being hesitant.

I wish they wouldn't hype 'muh 18 quintillion planets'. Daggerfall had 229,848 square kilometers for it's map size, didn't mean anything at the end of the day.

This reminds me of the fast inverse square root function and the ridiculous atmosphere that was around id software at the time. It shows that you don't need a huge studio to create innovative algorithms.

Is procedural child porn illegal? Is the algorithm illegal? Does free speech protect the publishing of the algorithm? Does making a procedural child porn algorithm make one a sex offender? Would Reddit ban the publishing of the algorithm? Would Voat?

While an interesting philosophical point, I think the combination of cp and irrelevance to the thread is what is giving you the negative score (albeit small). I'd certainly downgoat it on those grounds, if I could.

Interesting. So Voat is just like Reddit. Got it.
