Take into account the following:

Had they not sold to an outsider, this product never would have existed. 90% of multi million dollar kick starter campaigns failed to deliver, or delivers a shit quality product after 3 years of delaying that people stooped using after a week. But most of them just ran out of money and failed to deliver in the first place.

Those millions they got from the campaign wouldn't have been enough even for finalizing development, let alone manufacture it all.

If it wasn't for outside money, who ever donated on kick starter would have just lost their $$. Of course, they could have sold it to somebody else, but who? Microsoft or Sony? Because Microsoft and Sony are known for being "nice" company's? Valve? Did they even make an offer? And for how much?

Personally i don't give a shit because i don't think this tech will be at a decent level until at least 10 more years, and at that point, of course i will buy form Valve. Who would buy anything from Jewbook?

this product never would have existed.

It's the other way around actually, they wouldn't have been bought if the product wasn't on its way.

They bought something that was 20% done and it had potential to sell billions in the future if its complete. Had the other tech and business experts been blind, failed to see the potential and never offered to buy them out, the original team would never be able to complete it by them selves.
