I'm a Collector. I guess I fall somewhere in between casual and pro. I'm really good at the games that I devote my time to, and I learn everything I can about the mechanics and lore of each. But because of that time sink, I only tend to play a few games at a time.

I've been playing video games in some form for 19-20 years now, across all different platforms. I prefer creative games that allow me to build or explore. Right now I'm quite heavy in Elder Scrolls Online and I'm getting back into Minecraft. (with modpacks now)

Wow I didn't think I would fit any of those but the Enabler description was pretty spot on.

That linked article is brilliant. The Rebounder sounds so much like me lately.

They try games and then quit unexpectedly, moving on to the next shiny thing, often finding themselves unable to offer an opinion on the game they just played. There is very little attachment to the games they own, but the hobby has great worth. When they see something they had an attachment to as a youth, they splurge on it, often finding that the actual experience is lackluster in comparison to what they had in their mind. They have a love/hate relationship with remakes and ports.

I stumbled on that article while I was reading on different game design topics, at the time I was reading on catering to different types of gamers. I thought it fit here perfectly.

I'm so deep into gaming as a medium that it's my lifeblood. My career, culture, and identity is based around it.

Actually playing games, I always look at it from a design perspective, trying to find the most broken methods/combinations to give me an edge. I'm part munchkin and part developer, which means that I can go into a game and within an hour learn everything about it just from past experience. It also helps that I go on TVTropes all the time.

Basically a power gamer, yes, with over a decade of experience in it. I don't know if I'll ever get bored of it like the greats did (Miyamoto-san), though even if I do I will still know more about the medium than almost anybody.

I still don't know anything about the actual industry though, lol.

New copypasta? I guess there's enough of people like me to make it common.

I wanted to kind of see where people are in this community as it stands so far.

I'm a casual gamer who plays Clash Of Clans. I hope I can find some good games to chill out with if you guys have any ideas. Yes I have minecraft already.

I'm not sure I would recommend Don't Starve to a guy who causally plays Clash of Clans and Minecraft...

I guess you can say I'm in between. I really enjoy the AC games. I've been trying to beat all 6 ending on last raven, I've only got to beat one. Those games can get unforgiving..

I have no idea. I have been upgrading my computer unnecessarily. I just inhereted a bar that I run anyway so I literally have no time for games.

Im pretty casual at the moment. I was seriously into WoW. Serious raiding guild and arena teams but the last couple of expansions killed off most the people I used to play with and when I realised I was just grinding garrisons like some over priced facebook game I cancelled my subscription for the first time and don't miss it at all.

Now im just playing Civ5, Minecraft, Banished, TF2. Just things I already own or other free games.

I've tried a bunch of MMOs that were either free trial or f2p. But nothing has grabbed my interest

Incremental and clicker games are amazingly fun. Join us (all eight of us) in the sub!

These are the kinds of games I enjoy most:

  1. Rewards skill or intellect and gives me a reason to get better at the game.
  2. Minimal hand-holding, let me figure out the damn game myself please.
  3. Open ended, give me a reason to play it again and again.
  4. Not a moba.
  5. Fun, happy, and or humorous atmosphere.

These are some of my favorite games:

  • Riven: The Sequel to Myst
  • Mirror's Edge
  • Super Smash Bros. (Especially SSB Melee)
  • Need For Speed III: Hot Pursuit and its modern successor, Need For Speed Hot Pursuit 2
  • Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker
  • Team Fortress 2 (I don't really like it now, but I played it soooo much a few years ago)
  • Skyrim
  • Grand Theft Auto 5

I'd say you could classify my style as "Nintendo Hardcore". I like my games to have character, but I want them to be challenging and fun.
