My son and I have been building and writing code for a 4 player Space War style game.

Picture of the game so far. Nothing fancy, just 4 players and the ability to shoot bolts or ram and take damage. The goal is to add special weapons, shields and warping as well as different gameplay modes and a tournament mode.

The arcade stick we have made so far. Included programming 2 Teensys to handle the input as the cheap joystick to usb board I bought didn't survive the winter in the garage. We have the rest of the sideboards cut out to begin assembly of the cabinet. https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-Z2IMgHcJAOA/VarI0s695ZI/AAAAAAAAIyM/cc8VX7xXDlQ/w1538-h865-no/20150718_174339.jpg

It looks amazing. It's really cool that it's open source too. How are you liking the Godot engine?

Very much! It's also open sourced and free so it's perfect match for our philosophy. Also it's super fast :)

The combat reminds me of one of my favorite SegaCD games called 'The Third World War'. I'm totally going to try this out!

Work so far on a dungeon for my RPG. Parts of the GUI are broken right now due to some changes to the character script that I haven't quite finished yet.

It looks interesting, keep up the good work. I want to see it in action, though.

Really digging your sky backdrop.

Thanks! It's a unique one for that dungeon, supposed to look all strange and magical. Other "normal" areas follow a day/night cycle with dynamic weather too which I really need to work on some more

I was 3D modeling this.

Hope it counts.

Still need to work on ankles, arms, that akward crotch, etc.

that awkward crotch

That got a chuckle out of me. Keep at it, it's a nice start!

Awesome, I loved this.

Here is a shot from my last project that fizzled out about 25% in, might pick it up again some day

Right on! Looks ambitious! Have you thought about open sourcing it and/or recruiting help from here?

Have not considered either though a partner would be cool its sfml library written in c#

We're in super early alpha, but you're totally welcome to get in and start playing around. It's going to be about 2 weeks before the build is stable enough to hand out to the community. I started a Google+ community for the alpha (a dreadful necessity for android builds) https://plus.google.com/communities/105676171566797279975

The game is for Win, Mac, iOS, and Android - and they all network together so one player can be on an iPhone and the other on Windows with no issues.

A couple of screenshots showing off my graphics engine and its ability to randomly generate planets.

Those shots look fantastic! Tell me more about your random planets. Are you using voronoi patterns to create your land and ocean masses? Is the weather dynamic so hurricanes run their course? Sorry for playing 20 questions, I love randomly generated things.

It's cool, I love the questions.

So, what I've done is created for myself a fairly large Noise Library. It's much like LibNoise with a few key differences: I've named things correctly, using the correct terms; my randomness is better; I have a heap more modules and everything goes into at least 4 dimensions.

Mind you, mine is slower than LibNoise. And don't get me wrong, I don't mean to take away from LibNoise, LibNoise is fantastic, just didn't do what I needed.

So, with my noise library, I can combine sequential noise modules together (much like LibNoise). And that's basically all there is to it.

The weather does not move. It is drawn on it's own layer, so I've thought about rotating it differently than the underlying land-sphere. I don't think my noise library is fast enough to move things in realtime; however, I could conceivably generate the weather noise from 4D noise and loop the animation. But I probably won't because the math is hard and tbh, in a strategy game, you'll never be that close to the planet anyway :).
