This mentions that it takes advantage of raytrace capable GPUs. What's performance like on a conventional system that doesn't happen to be running a PowerVR card? Especially given that I'm pretty sure that Imagination hasn't licensed out its raytracing tech, meaning you're guaranteed to not have support on your development system (unless they started making desktop GPUs and took over the world without me noticing, of course.)

This implementation could theoretically run on a CPU or GPU using compute albeit at a much slower rate. By using the PowerVR Wizard architecture, you have full support in hardware to accelerate effects like ray traced soft shadows at video-rate speed (30 fps and above) at Full HD resolutions. Regarding hardware availability, we have taped out the first ray tracing GPU (more details here) and dev kits will be soon available.
