Gender Fluid: when you've convinced a generation that being normal isn't a thing they can be without shame.

Gender Fluid: when you define your sexuality based on what cloths you chose to wear this morning.

Or alternatively:

Gender Fluid: what previous generations used to call "deciding what to wear today".

Feminist: We need to conquer gender norms!

Transvestite: I'm no longer a man because I am conforming to female gender norms like dresses and makeup

Feminist: GOOD FOR YOU keep it up!

We were still bullying them in college around 2012. The same freshmen are attending school today! Just took a minute of weakness to fall apart

Maybe that's just it though - what is normalcy these days? Society is broken: wars, drones, terrible monetary conditions, you name it. Its stacked against us in an obvious way these days so maybe, just maybe, this is their attempt to try and break normalcy. At least, in a subconscious way - humanity is collectively and subconsciously screaming for something to change this broken ride because we're all tired of being run by insane people.

Maybe I've had a bit too much whisky and have been reading too much Law of One.

Hey, it's open to interpretation. But the way that I look at the fairly recent explosion of all this sexual identity nonsense is that being a victim of some kind of 'discrimination' gives you value in our current social climate. The goal here seems to be to label yourself as part of some minority group so you can claim to be part of 'the struggle' too. These kids are confused; they see the college kids, who they are told to aspire to be, spout this nonsense off and don't yet have the capacity to process what they're hearing in a complex way. The message they get is that if you aren't in "the oppressed" group, you're automatically in "the oppressor" group. It's the same reason you see thing like the Fat Acceptance movement; just attempts to make sure you're on the victim side of things.

Combine this shaming shit with the idea that as adolescents, they are looking to carve out a unique identity for themselves in a world that is lonelier despite being more connected. It's filled to the brim of people sharing either extreme views or personal highlight reels, being celebrated for what makes them resist the status quo. There's to much there to properly digest and the adults in their lives are either seen as part of the problem or really just don't understand what the kids are seeing any more than they do so don't know how to help them deal with it properly. The 'norm' is seen as the collective of all the bad things that old, hateful people believe and that by 'identifying' how ever they choose they are part of the 'right side of history' and are doing the right thing.

Basically, a bunch of pricks with dubious agendas aimed to, and managed to, confuse children. And this kind of thing is the result you get. But that's just the way I look at it.

Gender Fluid - when you actually believe the shit that a 4 year old boy comes up with to wear a tutu to play group that one time, and then sentence the little fucker to a life of cross dressing because you want be accepted as being a cool non judgmental parent, as opposed to fucking just letting that shit slide because he's a fucken kid.

Fucking this. Sometimes my daughter wants to play with trucks and wear jeans and play wrestling. Sometimes she wants to help me build shit and operate power tools. Some days she wants to wear a princess dress and make cakes. Because she's a fucking human being and sometimes human beings can want to wear jeans and operate power tools AND wear a princess dress and make cakes.

There's probably less of it at young girls and its more aimed at boys who sometimes want to wear princess dresses and make cakes but shit, plenty of kids just being young kids and figuring shit out and internet mums are all like "OH MY GOD YES MY KID IS TRANS! I CAN WRITE A BLOG ABOUT HOW I'M THE COOL, ACCEPTING, LIBERAL PARENT OF A TRANS KID! NO, FUCK YOU SON, YOU CAN'T WEAR JEANS NOW, YOU WEAR DRESSES, YOU'RE FUCKING TRANS OKAY?!" Poor kid isn't fucking trans, he just wants to make some pink fucking biscuits.

That's not to say that no kids are trans, but if your kids gender identity becomes the subject of your blog and part of your identity (I'm the mother of a trans kid!) then you might be pushing things a little.

Wait? Kids can be curious individuals who enjoy various varied things without being shoehorned into bullshit? Shh! Stop being a reasonable person! Clearly every child is a special snowflake in whatever bullshit category the parents decide the kid is even if the kid doesn't even understand what the fuck is going on to begin with and just wants to do their own thing! I'm sure the well-being of the parent's self-esteem is more important than the stable future and mentality of their children!

I'll have you know that I had a mental image of myself repeatedly banging my head against a wall as I typed this out. I don't understand how people manage to be this level of stupid.

How many black people raised by single mothers grow up and say they are gender fluid? Next to none? Back to the drawing board.

The blacks raised without a father figure are disproportionately the ones who drop out of high school & end up being incarcerated, compared with the blacks who grow up with a father .

there's actually more gay blacks than gay whites percentage wise. they probably just don't know what gender fluid is yet

Wait. Gender fluid is defined by the clothes you wear and that's how you identify your gender? I thought gender wasn't defined by material things? Girls can play baseball and wear jeans like boys can like cooking and wear pink.

Gender (in social terms) is what sex you identify with mentally. There is a direct conflict in the LGBT community between the feminist mantra that gender social norms are arbitrary societal constructs, and the trans notion that gender is a very real psychological (often genetic) aspect of human behavior.

Some groups will parrot both ideas, and are content to live in the paradox. Others take a side. It was one of many points of contention in the 80s that lead to a bunch of mudslinging between activists.

Gender fluid advocates believe they can be one gender one day, and the opposite the next (and everything in between). This one runs into all sorts of issues with many groups.

Very interesting, thanks. I've heard the concept of gender fluid, just never looked into it deeply. It seems that with the paradox, if gender is a social construct, how you look on the outside is more a preference of comfort as opposed to what gender you identify with.

2nd one: I thought for a second they were identifying as Rin from Katawa Shoujo. It wouldn't surprise me if they were actually trying to identify as an armless painter, which is a gender of course.

may always feel like a mix of the two traditional genders, but may feel more boy some days, and more girl other days.

Aka I never had an intact family and or consequent upbringing.
