lol. he's already been picked, bro. you're in luck. you'll feel like you actually did something.

then you'll be dismayed as he goes back on most of what he's said he'll do, and actually just continues doing what the oligarchs want him to do (which barack soresoto is currently doing)

do you vote for your senators judges and congressman? if not then theres how you can vote to remove the oligarchy. and if you have a family and you communicate like grownups and come to common conclusions then your one vote turns into 2 or 3 or more depending on how many people you talk to and are able to get to understand your point of views. they want you to go with the whole "people dont talk about politics or religion" bullshit talk about it talk about how corrupt it is talk about how they dont listen to the people talk about it till it gets you mad and then talk about it with as many people you can, keep the fire going. its not a quick process but you cant just give up, thats why they drag it out to discourage people intentionally. dont be discouraged and try to feel like youre vote is influential because it is

But if you don't vote at all you count for nothing.

The electoral college says otherwise...

How many people running for president have been to your state? (If you live in the US?)

Seriously... how many in the last 3 months?

I used to be a proponent of voting in every election I could. Then during a lecture in a political science class in college the topic of legitimacy came up. The lecturer made the point that western governments get their legitimacy from their elections, and it occurred to me that if they held an election where nobody showed up they'd have no legitimacy.

You know, the only way any of this will change is if people get off their lazy asses and just riot. Peaceful protest wont solve anything because that can just be ignored. Fires, bricks though windows, and gunshots can't.

the conclusion i draw from this video is that we need to vote more competent people into congress, those people are voted in as well but people only worry about voting for the president when in reality he cant do anything without congress. i agree with the video but i also agree that this can be changed if people get involved and start voting competent people in and forcing the corrupt people out

YES! Congress and the Senate write, tweak, make the laws, and add the shitty fucking riders - the President is nearly just a figurehead...he's just a final yes or no and he's worn and tired of fighting and sending shit back to the kitchen to be redone.

Heres the problem though. Lots of people already are involved yet we still have the same corrupt government. We encourage everybody to vote. Idiots, uneducated people, uninformed people, and people with malicious intent. And when we do all vote we usually dont make great votes. Mitt romney almost won for christ sake. And to most people, voting is much more important than actually being informed. Lots of people asked me if I voted, but none asked me if I knew anything about politics

And because of all of that I dont find voting to be very helpful. We need fewer voters, but with more educated, informed, people who want to better their country voting

Want to know what's wrong with Congress? Legalized bribery aka lobbying.

But you can't expect to change anything in this broken system, if you don't even try.

It's silly to try to fix something I can't. I don't have the money, so why even bother? Voting doesn't work, and had never worked for me.

It's ridiculous to think using the system to fix the system is a good idea.

The system isn't broken. It's working perfectly for those it was built to serve. The system only appears broken to you if you're not the one benefiting from it. You can't change a system from within. Participating via voting within the current system is a futile waste of time.

Don't give up - they win when you give up. Maybe it's broken and near hopeless but don't let them crush your spirit. Work hard, gain influence and poison them from their own insides!

/metaphorically of course

Ah, but the premise is flawed: If the office people are running for wields no real power, then voting itself doesn't accomplish anything.

The guy can order people killed across the world and has an army of flying killing robots. POTUS has power.

That is true. And, regardless of whom we elect, they ultimately serve the same master and will take the same actions. The media's constant coverage of the elections are to distract us from what is really going on.

The President having power is a recent usurpation of power. Up until a few decades ago, the President didn't have much power at all and the Constitution still says he doesn't have much power.

The only possibility that might occur is that voting is shown to have no effect on candidate selection. Then the masses will know that America is lost.

This is such horse shit. This is what voting actually is, it doesn't matter who you vote for, minor bullshit stuff changes but anything groundbreaking that actually matters is already decided and all candidates will pass those bills no matter what because of the shadow government/corporations/money in politics.

Voting is an illusion of choice.

I don't vote because I refuse to vote for the lesser of two evils. The parties don't matter, it's all the same pile of shit, doesn't matter if you are looking at the blue or the red side.

[–] Chiefpacman 2 points 4 points (+6|-2) ago

Then stop looking at it like its all red and blue. Appreciate a candidate for ideals. Or, you could vote independent.

I felt this way until I found Bernie.

Also, you're right- there is no difference between red and blue.

I think they don't vote because both candidates are equally useless
