"Hey guys, I'll give you a job sucking dicks for 5 dollars a pop"

"N-No thanks..."

"You ungrateful bastards!"

Right, I was going to ask, what job did he offer them.

I mean, I'm sure some people don't take McDonalds jobs because they're lazy, others don't do it because they have mental disorders or some other disability. They might have been perfectly justified in refusing.

Agree. Need more information before jumping on the shame wagon.

They may have other reasons they're unable to work too. Even if it's a good job, perhaps they are just happiest where they are. Give or don't, but I wouldn't want to force anyone who lives free into this system of control.

He offered them a carwash job.

I was staying in a shitty extended stay hotel once and my "neighbor" was a panhandler. He didn't want to take the pay cut that getting a ~min wage job would entail. I told him what I thought about that. We were not friends...

Not really, beggers can net quite a bit of cash if they have the right look and hang around the right areas. Most (I'd say easily 9/10) in my city are Romanians who do it professionally. I see them getting out of cars with their signs and sleeping bags often enough. They hang around until the pubs empty and go home.

A friend of mine worked in a supermarket where they used to swop their change for notes (supermarkets have to buy coin from the bank, so if someone's willing to swap it value for value it's great news for them) and she said they were pulling in over over €300 each on a good day.

So it doesn't really say anything about the minimum wage given that they make more than some professional tradesmen, just people's gullibility/good nature.

Not really, I regularly pulled $50-$70 an hour back in my day, and the pros with disabilities/dogs would clean $100. You'd be surprised how many $20s we'd get and a $100 bill every other day was all but guaranteed.

One of the top grossing panhandlers in NYC I think, was bragging he was getting $200/hr.

You know what, as long as none is forced to give him money (Like taxes) then more power to him.

I can't disagree with that. The lesson we should all learn is to never give money to beggars. If you just can't help yourself, try an apple instead.

Yeah, good on you. He obviously didn't mind the dignity & self respect 'pay cut' he took

What if they're making more money panhandling than they could get with the low-paying jobs within their immediate reach? That and they don't have to pay taxes on any of it?

Since it's an experiment I wonder if they give the money back they're given

This sums up the west.

Go live in Asia you can sell shit on the street! These kids don't know what to do as well as they don't want to do it.

The girls selling lemonade on the street who get busted by the police is a much bigger story than you think.

American has lost its fucking freedom long ago.

Do you remember egypt blew up when the street fruit seller was being harassed. . I forget the full story.

American will be a 3rd world country soon. It is so clear.

And all you will have left is the police state.

And remember do not ask the conspiracy nuts for help!

You don't deserve help from the people you bullied.

Could be donated clothing, but highly doubt it. Probably got caught smoking weed by their parents and were "kicked out" until they quit.

Got high anyways, munchies hit, realized they no longer receive allowance and thought this would work.

I've seen it. It's kinda funny.

Delivered pizzas when I had to to support my family. Turning down any honest work to beg makes you are scumbag.

Depends on what the job was. I've declined jobs even though I was unemployed myself because they were terrible. Some things were just a no-go, even if I was staring homelessness in the face.
