Where do you see that? I see "if I could take her home" on that image. I thought maybe you posted that and then someone corrected the image after but the modification date on the image is August 25, 2015 3:20:08 PM which looks to be about 3 hours older than your post.

The joke is a play on the phrase "I asked a girl if I could take her home". If you think about it, it means he had to ask her "Can I take your home?"
So no, it's not explicitly in there, it's an implied part of the conversation.

I laughed when I read it. The phrase in the image is correct and the joke worked because "her home" is her cardboard box. It sounds like you ruined the joke with an incorrect replacement of the words after not getting it and then thinking about it too much.
