I get annoyed at the fact people don't know that ball that's supposed to weigh a kilo and no longer weighs a kilo is in truth always a kilo per definition. Whatever that ball weighs IS a kilo.

That's also the only time the shrinkage of the kilo standard even matters because it will make ALL measurement wrong if its not redefined from a the weight of a particular physical object to a more scientific definition.

I think I've lost the ability to enjoy mostly nice things.

Actually that was the old standard - a reference weight.

The new standard is based on a specific constant number of atoms.

From that standard they made a crystalline hyper accurate ball for practical purposes and measurements I guess, but the ball is no longer the standard itself.

What? A kilogram is based on volume of water. One liter is one kilogram.

One meter cubed of water is 1000kg.
