People change. Mental health issues can crop up and destroy the person you love without killing them. Those an hav zero symptoms well into adulthood. Taking time to know your partner is invaluable. But a fair portion of divorcees I know with kids, if not drugs and alcohol, mental health was the major factor.

Edit- it seems I have triggered quite a lot of you.

Stop fucking crazy.

As an elder, young men I can not impress it upon you enough. Don't Stick Your DIck In Crazy. Go out, have fun, use a condom, you be in charge of it. Make friends with a nice girl then get to know her before sex. Tinder is Guaranteed Crazy. The results will hurt you, your children and your family. But most of all YOU.

It's sad how few people understand this.

All women are crazy. The point he's trying to make is that mental health issues can appear at any point in life. The great love of my life developed schizophrenia in her late twenties. She was beautiful, intelligent, and conservative. She was responsible. Then I saw her mind become eaten alive. She destroyed herself with her own mind. It was the most painful thing I'd ever experienced. We'd been together for half a decade before symptoms even started to appear. Blanket statements such as "marry wisely" fall apart in the light of experience and age.

Correct on both parts :)

I REFUSE TO ACKNOWLEDGE THAT PEOPLE CHANGE OVER TIME and that those future changes might make us incompatible with one another. Either way, never divorce FOR THE SAKE OF THE CHILDREN. Fuck your personal happiness. The CHILDREN are all that matter. Maybe we should get rid of GUNS so no one shoots CHILDREN with guns.... Oh wait. The dissonance. My head hurts... it feels like it's swelling... agoaisnfgnKJgwgKFJG

Either all young'un's here, or never-married's, or the magic few married-once-and-stayed-together.

There's also the married-once-and-stayed-together category who SHOULD have divorced for their children's sake, but didn't because of ideas like this, and managed to ruin their children and their relationship with them. Their legacy will be one of conflict and frustration. If you don't fall into that category, well done. I hope your 60's and beyond treat you well.

What does any of this have to do with anything

North portage suggesting better checks upfront could avoid divorce. Me footnoting that would not prevent 100%
