With the rise of social media people have started faking emotions to make themselves seem more interesting. This face is little more than a weak attempt to increase the persons social value among his peers, which in this case, are also the same twats that take pictures of themselves like this anyway. If this social value signaling persists long enough in an individual they'll coalesce all the behaviors that that kind of group (or whichever group provides them the most positive feedback) favors.

IMO its particularly sad/pathetic because its entirely built on fakeness and these people eventually build their whole identity around this fake identity social signalling. IMO these people are very good indicators of the greying race/cultural trend, where heritage doesnt matter, culture doesnt matter, and everyones a mindless consumerist endlessly mirroring each others fake vapid behaviors for cheap social standing. Which is great if you're a business owner trying to sell them shit, because their identities are entirely moldable. My 2c.
