In most countries you can be arrested without charges, as a person of interest, so long as they release or charge you within a certain timeframe. So in that situation, it would be rather easy to end up with only a resisting arrest charge.

I think in Japan it's like 20 days or something. Canada is 24 hours. No idea how it works in the US where people have rights.
