They're both archaic books. Your bible actually says to stone your wife to death if she cheats.

New testament supersedes the old one, that's bible 101

The law will remain forever, that's Matthew 5:18.

That's Church 101. The Bible says nothing of the sort.

Jesus says he's come to fulfill the word, not to destroy the law. He also says not one jot of the word shall be erased until the end of the world.

God, I believe in Deuteronomy, says his commands are eternal.

Isaiah says God doesn't change his mind, though that is contradicted by God's actions in Genesis and Exodus, where he seems to want to destroy humanity and then has a change of heart.

The truth is that both books have nice passages, and a bloody and violent God in other passages which command murder and genocide. The difference is that Europeans and Arabs/N. Africans built different cultures that emphasized different messages in their holy books, leading to a different expression of their religions.

Nope. The new covenant of Jeremiah 31 is not the same as the new testament/covenant of Christianity.

Wow, instantly got 4 replies from religious people (I assume). So, I'm sorry to choose your comment to rebut to, but isn't that like saying "I changed my fantasy fan fiction story, so now it's better than yours?"

In the Old Testament it does. We are released from Mosaic law; the old testament is mearly something to reflect on.

Jesus, through his sacrifice, released us from that. We don't have to avoid pork, we don't have to sacrafice sheep every time we sin.

I'm happy to explain these things; but I'd like to add that you shouldn't assume things about something you clearly don't fully understand. So many people, see a facebook quote from some libtard; and think they understand an inkling about the bible.

Honestly, this meme does the same thing. Though I have explored the quaran; I don't begin to fully understand its intricacies.

Thank you for clarifying this for those who do not know.

There is a reason Christian civilizations have always been more civilized and moral than Muslim ones

That's Pauline doctrine - Paul was a false apostle.

This is indeed a Holy Koran, in a book well-guarded, which none shall touch but those who are clean

Marines in Guantanamo wore gloves while handing out Korans, in deference to the bigoted shitskins.

The funny part of this picture is that if the Muslim was looking into the Bible and pointing at it smiling then they both would be killed. The creator of this picture knew enough not to have it be equal or in favor of the Christian. They also made sure that both books are actually blank and have only symbols placed on the back page. Therefore, if confronted he could say the books weren't sacred and that they were just comparing diaries.

I do hope that Christian girl isn't teaching there

Timothy 2:12 I do not permit a woman to teach

[–] Chiefpacman 3 points 2 points (+5|-3) ago

Finish the quote.

do not permit a woman to teach or to assume authority over a man; she must be quiet.

Or were you afraid the voat community might like the sound of that? It is pertaining to religious teachings anyways. Selective reading?

Voat - loves to talk about Islam oppressing women, loves the passages of the bible that oppress women.

My favorite part is when God tells Moses "tho shall not kill" and inscribes it on tablets... twice... just to make sure the message got through... and then Moses goes down and kills a shit ton of his own people bc they got into idol worshiping while he was on his hike and God didn't like it.

That's a mistranslation. The original text more correctly says "thou shall not commit murder".

[–] gauss_markov 1 points 2 points (+3|-1) ago

It's "thou shalt not murder" you heathen, and that is different than killing.
