Ok we all know makeup makes a difference but some of these are so stupidly used for comparisons.
Alessandra Ambrosio picture is her off a flight at an airport, because we all know we look our best after a long flight.
Cindy Crawford post retirement hanging out with her kids compared to a professional event where she had a whole styling team make her look good.
Doutzen Kroes her non makeup picture is of her at a younger age doing polaroids for her modelling agency then a picture years later at the Cannes Film Festival where yes she had a whole styling team for the event.
Elle McPherson, look up her age and then tell me how many people look that good still and have that amazing a body.
Gisele Bundchen, a picture of her partying and having fun obviously is less glamorous then her on the runway for Colicci
Half of these are just bad moment pictures or taken years apart and saying "WOW they look different"

I didn't see it as a criticism of the models in their off-hours, I saw it as "Models aren't unnaturally gifted gods of beauty without the work of makeup artists" to show everyone that models are regular people too. Maybe I'm not cynical enough.

Lighting and camera angle, as well as posing/smiling a certain way probably had way more effect than make up. Anyone can look terrible when caught by surprise in a candid shot.
