I imagine 99% of a truck driver's job will be automated in the near future. At most you will have "equipment monitors" who have to press a button here and there and get paid minimum wage + compensated travel. I suppose that would be a good job for people with no qualifications or experience.

I would pay good money to watch a computer perform a u-turn in a semi-truck to avoid a low bridge on a busy road

You'd probably pay less than a Truck drivers salary...

It just wouldn't go through there. Truck routes aren't known for having low bridges. Drivers ignoring signs are known for hitting them.

Well someone will still need to be in the truck to make sure it's doing what it's supposed to do. Those people will obviously be paid less than a skilled truck driver but getting paid to mostly just sit on your phone and browse Voat and push a button on the truck's touchscreen here and there wouldn't be bad, even for minimum wage.
