There is nothing wrong with wanting to be taken seriously.

You are the sum of your life experiences and decisions. At 11, you would have to have been All over and done a Whole Lot to have formed a really good opinion.

We have a lot of 30 year old children in the US, people who have been exposed to nothing, and have strong opinions about wealth distribution because of it. Anyone who has crunched business numbers can see through that fog. This kid, is likely brainwashed by his parents with talking points.

That kid looks pretty passionate about whatever his point is. I would listen to his thoughts as long as he wasn't yelling.

I can hear him now..

"I demand free healthcare"

"I demand $1,000 week since I can't find a job"

"I identify as a 16 year old so I demand to drive without being harassed by the police"

I actually hope that universal basic income becomes a reality. It is already financially viable, but not politically. The panama papers gave a good level of indication of just how much money is being hidden away, I wonder how much more George Soros and his buddies are hiding away.

It would also lead to one of the greatest improvements in working conditions to ever happen. It would get rid of people who don't want to work and don't want to be there but only do it because they need the money. It would also get rid of shitty employers who exploit others who need the money and treat them like shit.

Universal basic income would still leave incentive to work. Technological Unemployement is also coming, jobs in the transportation sector are about to get slaughtered by self driving vehicles.

I think in some instances kids have a way of seeing the world in a brutally honest fashion and telling you objectively the truth. However, it's also equally possible that kids have picked up on something their parents say and defend if without understanding the context. Especially in today's politically charged environment, parents feel it's their duty to indoctrinate their kids no matter which side they lean. My parents would always explain, "well I believe.....but you have to figure out if you believe that too, I can't force my opinion on you". This subtle difference has been lost on my generation, who are now the parents.

I've even had to get on my husband because he says derogatory things about Muslims and one of my daughters preschool teachers is Muslim. I told him he would be the one having the parent teacher confrence, not me, because he shouldn't be saying anything that terrible about anyone in front of our children. He is entitled to have his opinion and share it with them as they become old enough to desern the context, but not at two years old!

She wears a hijab and her name is Ms. Emam. Why wouldn't it come up in school?

That's funny. This guy just called me a twat for an opinion and wouldn't respond with his take on the subject... so it's satisfying for me to see a comment like this

edit: he replied after seeing this comment :)

Haha, I had the pleasure of chatting with him in that thread. There was a good conversation going on minus him injecting himself everywhere.

There's no age to be able to recognize facts from idiocy, unfortunately some people will NEVER be able to do such thing, no matter how old they are. You have to want it! Doesn't mean this kid got it or not, I don't know.
