The first two are voluntary acts. Socialism has historically required a great deal of force and ropes in unwilling participants.

All 3 have a tendency to try to recruit others in a very annoying fashion.

It's a bit odd that insisting that the wealthy pay a fair share for the maintenance of our society seems so unpopular, given that they're its principal beneficiaries.
And as for walking the walk? I'm in the upper end of the middle class; the government gets about 55% of my income in the form of federal, state and local taxes, property taxes, gasoline taxes and so forth. Yet people who make between 10X and 1000X as much as I do seem to manage to pay less in taxes. I know this firsthand: I know some of them.
That said, I enjoy the benefits conferred by paying for civilization and civil order, you know, those socialist programs like roads, parks, law enforcement, public libraries, national defense, firemen, paramedics, publicly funded research and publicly funded arts.
My only complaint is that the people with whom we entrust our public moneys waste so much of it, and steal so much of it. (They're creative enough about it, god knows.) There's enough waste, graft and corporate welfare in there to pay for universal education and health care, and I'd rather it be spent that way than on big rake-offs by high-hats.
I don't vote for those people. Do you?
