After many requests to do this, here is my list of fat facts put together in a thread. I didn’t think enough people would care, but here we are. It’s always getting bigger, it’s all archived, and I like to think it’s formatted in a way that’s clear, easy, and convenient to use.

Disclaimer: This can only help you with rational arguments and that’s only, what, maybe 1-2% of arguments with fats? If nothing else, however, it should help generating some butter tears and that makes it all worthwhile for me.

Here’s a ping for @Duress56, as you asked, to put this in the sidebar.

I would also like to thank @ScheissKaiser for pointing me to Github. This list would look messy spread over several comments (stupid character limit) or as source text full of all the brackets on somewhere like Pastebin.

Every time I post a link to a science article here in the future, you will be paged.

You can feel free to do that, but I haven't missed a FPH post since I joined. If you post it here, I'll see it.

I have shamelessly stolen this for antiobesityscience too, it's perfect. Excellent work shitlady!!

Just an FYI, the antiobesity.science domain is up for grabs on GoDaddy for $28/yr. If I had the extra funds right now I'd snatch it up and throw together a quick site for it.

Hmm, that's definitely worth thinking about. I have the funds but no expertise to build a reasonable site around it. For accumulating links, voat and tumblr seem to be the easier way to do it simply... but it is out of my control somewhat should voat get nuked or I get booted off tumblr. I don't think I've got any real usp that would mark out anything different from other awareness sites along a similar obesity vein. Also /u/hornypickle thoughts welcome... /v/antiobesityscience was your baby

Why Github?

It's actually a good place for curated lists of things. Take for instance https://github.com/vinta/awesome-python, https://github.com/sorrycc/awesome-javascript, and https://github.com/ziadoz/awesome-php

You get an okay looking markdown-formatted document hosted for free, which is the main point. You can keep a clone of the repository anywhere and just hoist it on another git hosting site in case it gets taken down (which I think is very unlikely). You also open up for the possibility of collaboration, including a review process.

Sure, a code-centric platform like git(hub) is probably not the perfect fit for this. But it gets the job done. It was the first thing that popped up in my mind (I suggested github to Carsandsarcasm).

It means I can create a list of actual links rather than source text. It's much cleaner this way.

I get that, but wouldn't a blogging platform be more appropriate than a remote code repository?

"Obese people have a greater chance of brain tumours" appears to be broken. (Brain and behaviours section)

That was the only link in there that wasn't an archived link. This is why we archive. I find some pages, though, don't like to be archived and I remember one just refused. I guess this was that one. I've removed it.

I've noticed that some refuse too and some archive completely blank, or with an annoying advert popped up.

The downside to this process is what if the archive index goes down?

Love the list! I think this would also be a good time to tell you fellow shitlords about an awesome book I came across called Spark by John Ratey MD, which has lots of modern science showing that aerobic activity and healthy BMI's have strong connections to mental health and intelligence.

It has examples of schools that cut down class hours to fit in a mandatory fitness-based gym class that all have been skyrocketing on standardized testing regardless of wealth or crime of the school district. It's a wonderful read, and it really makes me hope for the shitlord movement pushing against the obesity epidemic in the US.

Thank you OP! My favorite is the 78% of Americans are fat statistic.
