The complicated food-pyramid stuff was a turnoff to me. It made health seem complicated and goody-two-shoes. /r/fatlogic and FPH changed my worldview.

That's what annoys me. As the dietican on M600PL said, it's not how much they eat so much as what they eat. A lot of lean protein still doesn't have a lot of calories. Instead, we were told that you only need a card-deck-size portion of meat. Granted, some Pacific Island nations are deathfat because they eat mutton bellies and high-fat throwaway parts--sizzling them like bacon--but lean protein isn't the primary reason people are fat. It's way easier to eat 1500 calories of crackers than 1500 calories of pork, even.
