what's a "regular food coma". I've never had one, and I have No Idea.

After lots and lots of sushi I've managed it... note only with sushi, and I'm pretty sure it was my body trying to shut down while it processed the enormous amount of food I put into it.
Few hours later went for a group run, belched whitefish and wasabi the entire time. Would not repeat this experience.

You know on Thanksgiving where you get to that happy-full place and start to feel sleepy? Well, imagine having another plate or two on top of that. That's what I imagine a food coma to be.

Right, on thanksgiving. It's something you do once a year. Not twice a day.

I don't know! I've never eaten like that! I'm not a pig.

Food Coma - Postprandial somnolence
You get a bit tired after a large meal, due to your nervous system going into a more relaxed state.
This can be greatly amplified biochemically if your meal was very heavy in carbohydrates (and for most hams, we know it was.) The pancreas goes into overtime pouring insulin into your body to try to get the blood glucose back down. One of the cascading effects is a large increase in serotonin in the brain.
Basically your body needs to call on all its resources to convert your giant meal into body fat.
