God... as awful as the whole story sounds, why let it get that far?... it sounds hellish, but... why?

He could've just fucking walked away! If he didn't want to "hurt somebody," he's somebody. There's no victory in eternal self-flagellation. Why would he choose to make that his life?

It sounds bad, but I have a hard time really have compassion for someone like that. You need to respect yourself at least a little bit in life.

He honestly sounds like a "victim of circumstance", aka "saw shitstorm on the horizon but held tightly to his collection of perforated umbrellas".

He's stupid, but trying to be committed for the sake of the kids whom I HOPE aren't fat (yet). Its so much better for everyone in this situation if parents separate. Dad is miserable, Momthing has been for awhile because its huge, kids just understand that parents are unhappy and its bad and might be their fault. Dad needs to suck it the fuck up and serve papers with the expectation of equal custody or (if its what he wants) full custody.

As someone who's parent divorced, I agree. Its far better for them to split than to constantly hear them argueing and to feel that awkward tension all the time when they try to pretend everything is ok. Sure it was sad for the first month but I got over it just fine.

Yepp. Hoping he will be a good influence on the kids

Besides extreme circumstances, it's difficult for the father in a custody battle. I've watched two of my friends deal with it where the baby mama was certifiably insane, and they still had a hard time. The poster had said something the effect of he'd be broke and homeless if he made any drastic changes like that. I feel for the dude, I'm in a similar boat and just waiting for an opportunity to run.

i agree he should really talk to her and tell her what he thinks, he needs to stop worrying about how she feels and think about how he feels. i wish everyone would respect themselves more, but i guess thats why there are so many fatties out there

I think his point was that this is hindsight. He realises this now and didn't really have a clue how bad it would get, he's just trying to warn others.

You would hope "that would never happen to me", but it could. Some people in life do just stop caring about themselves sometimes, you don't have to look far now day's to find an obese married person.

It genuinly scares the shit out of me that this could happen to me. This guy would end up making his life 10 times worse before it got better again so I don't blame him for what he is doing, especially with kids. You imagine trying to say to your kid "I can't be with mummy anymore because she got fat". The whole story is just depressing as fuck

What a bitch. And he had three kids with it? Really? I make some pretty shitty decisions at times, but goddamn. You just doomed three kids to a life with that thing as a mom, congrats bud.

Honestly, as a female white knights/betas kinda disgust me. Hearing them parrot feminist propaganda like they want a pat on the head and a button for being a "nice guy." There's a difference between being nice and being weak, and it seems like more men - at least where I live - choose to be weak.

The problem is people are raised to be spineless. We're expected to go along with things and avoid offending people. See No More Mr. Nice Guy by Danny Glover.

Pure darkness. The dude lives in hell so there's no point in recriminating him. Classic example of get married to someone you don't like-->shit out kids-->suffer and die.

Yep. Be DAMN sure you want kids, folks. I got my head on straight before I made that mistake, and treating my ex kindly means I get to pay an entirely reasonable and voluntary amount of support.

Sure there is! He's fucking a fatty. He's still married to a fatty, and supporting its food habit.

He's got plenty of choices, sure they're all shitty from his point of view... but from where I am they seem fantastic in comparison to being married to a doublewide trailer full of beetus, paying for everything, and bitching to strangers about it.

She's gained 50 lbs since getting married, can't lose it, the diabetes makes her smell bad... Went through a depressive phase for a year where she wouldn't shower regularly to compound matters.

Don't forget she's a nurse. Feel bad for the poor fuckers she was supposed to be making feel better.

And she has a job as a nurse? How did her boss let her get away with that? How did the patients react? Even in a retail job that shit wouldn't fly.

Good god, femayo butter barges have to be the nastiest, most vile, pieces of shit to walk waddle the earth. Seriously, like how'd he fuck that thing to get three kids? It smells, has "Da beetus", is an obese slovenly pig that doesn't shower, I mean can't he just kill it or something? Put it down? What if he makes a trail out of Krispy Kreme's that leads right off a cliff, like in the cartoons? There's gotta be a way out of that shitty life.

Now it's suffer through it for the kids who he may or may not get to see if he gets a divorce. Huge risk if you love your kids and shit.

Or leave, since he's incredibly miserable and that will rub off on the kids. If he loved his kids he'd do something about his own misery while still providing for them - possibly from a distance, worst case - because if he stays in that situation, as things continue breaking down the kids are going to question themselves... "what did I do wrong that dad and momster are unhappy/fighting/crying/turning into gobs of shit?" and that sort of thinking will stick with them for a long, long time.

I don't think we can judge his entire life on a paragraph. I would imagine there was a huge amount of detail over the many years which has lead him to this conclusion. For all we know they could have been happy-ish and thought that kids would bring them closer together.

Hindsight is a wonderfull thing

What kills me is this is seen as totally acceptable now. Women have kids and "eat for two" and the weight just stays and men are fine with that. I wouldn't want to be with someone for whom I would even have to explain this to. Couples that shitlord together stay together.
