It's all ridiculous nanny-state nonsense, but this is on the floor of the CA house and legislators would get crucified for proposing a similar safeguard with food, double standard much?

Maybe they can sneak in a food clause at the very last minute and get it passed to set a precedent for food policing as well?

There's a program like this in Ontario (Canada), I think it's called "Smart Serve". Don't know if it's law that you have to take the course to serve alcohol, but most restaurants and bars won't hire you if you haven't taken it. (I've been out of the restaurant industry for about 7 years now though, things could have changed)

Leave it to California to lead the way in replacing personal responsibility with nanny state bullshit.

I'm all for servers looking out for patrons when they've had to much to drink, but fucking hell if it should be mandatory.
