I have to correct you as a physician, true hypothyroidism does NOT correct on its own. Your wife likely has hypothyroidism from Hashimoto or some other thyroiditis. Those are known to cause fluctuations in thyroid hormones as the condition acts up and settles cyclically.

Does the regular exercise help your wife with the ms? And a book you may want to read is, Minding your mitochondria, by Dr Terry Wahls. She has some interesting ideas/theories.

it's kind of insane how they don't realise that thyroid hormones can be harmful when not needed. look at hyperthyroidism. tachycardia is shit man. and other effects obvi, but I suffer from electrical issues in my heart and I get lots of tachycardia and it sucks. Now imagine being huge, enlarged heart, possibly stage 1-2 heart failure, compensation is on with tachycardia, more strain, add thyroid hormone and boom...

So... you're saying the thyroid stuff will actually make them die sooner? I'm not seeing a downside to this. Guys, let's get to work on spreading the word about what a miracle these thyroid medications are!

Tachy sucks balls. 220 resting bpm and needing to be de-fibbed out of it., had I been overweight and unhealthy, I would have been fucked.

I find it funny that fats complain that the diet industry is the devil for profiting off them, but the top selling drugs, i.e things that fats volunteer for and worship, are thyroid pills, cholesterol pills, beetus pills, and I'm sure blood pressure pills are up there too. Everyone is profiting off fats; the medical industry, the diet industry, the TV industry, the fast food industry, etc, etc. Fats are the ultimate consumer and they are none the wiser to it. For some reason, they only blame the diet industry.

I work at a nursing home and almost everyone has thyroid problems. Doctor's don't just prescribe it, they have to do lab work.

At least I hope they fucking do lab work.

I have to field requests from thyroid pills from people who have normal or almost normal thyroids quite regularly. People come in with a TSH of 5.3 (normal cut-off at our lab is 5.0, and I do remind them that these are somewhat soft cut-offs) and think that all their problems are because of their thyroids.

For there to be 21m prescriptions in a month, there is absolutely no way people are being tested heavily enough for every single person. I had a friend who has an actual thyroid issue but can't sleep because of it. She did some sleep tests but was denied a prescription because she missed the test mark during a sleep study by four minutes.

Even their own website says in bold letters at the top that it's not for the treatment of obesity, which speaks volumes about how people are trying to get it. https://www.synthroid.com

However they probably don't give a fuck and just put that to cover their asses. More prescriptions means more money for them.

I was just about to say that most of the medications listed are prescribed to overweight and obese patients. When I worked in a pharmacy many of the patients were on at least 5 of the medications on that list and none of them were really interested in stopping smoking or dieting.

You know what I just saw on TV?

Some commercial for a drug that "controls high blood sugar". You know how the people in it were? FAT. And over their ham speak a song played "ohh everyday people" or some shit.

There's another commercial for a drug I don't remember that also features hams, only hams.

My dad actually uses levothyroxin. THAT BEING SAID, he's not fat. At all. He had his thyroid taken out when he was sixteen because he had cancer. And he's BMI 22. Fuck these fats who say their thyroid is their problem.
