I'm just about as pro vaccine as they come, but flu shots are ineffective. Let's not make this a vaccine issue. Refusing a flu shot is a lot different than refusing childhood vaccines.

They aren't ineffective they just don't cover all types of flu.

The dumbness in this is, in my opinion, definitely in the reasoning and not in the fact that a flu shot has been refused. But I'd wager the family and especially the comment-ham might be a bit averse to vaccines in general. Beetus got the brain.

Anecdata alert!!
I've been getting the flu shot every year for almost 10 years. I've been exposed to a lot of people with the flu. I haven't had the flu yet. They make a best educated guess at which strains will be most active in a given flu season. There are usually three strains the vaccine will protect against. Sometimes, though, they don't guess correctly or there may be a different strain that's more prevelant in one area.
Having said that, I don't get too up in arms about people not vaccinating for the flu. Other diseases like polio, rubella, mumps, measles, etc.? Yes, vaccinate or go to some isolated island somewhere.

Unfortunately it IS a vaccination issue, from the original article.
Because the flu shot will give you mercury poisoning... that's how this works.

I hope you're joking.

Regardless of your belief in vaccines, a foster child is legally in the custody of the state and they make the medical decisions. So if they say the child can only be placed in a home where all the occupants are fully vaccinated then either comply or return the kid.

Getting vaccinated is so unnatural....shoves 5 donuts into mouth. Fat people are stupid.

Distrust of government is rational given the countless horrors they routinely inflict. Unfortunately, despite being good things, advice about both vaccinations and healthy eating come from the same mouthpiece. This leaves people with only their common sense to rely on which means low IQ people are completely fucked. Kidnapping their child merely inflames the situation.
Look at it from their point of view: why is the government right this time? Every other time the government has been shown to be evil (wars, pollution, excess tax on the poor, immigration, failure to enforce the law, brutal social engineering, cultural marxism, etc). We are left in the terrible situation where any institution is seen as corrupt, even if they are genuinely trying to do the right thing (preventing outbreaks of disease).
