Coca-Cola Company and their respective geographical subsidaries have entire teams dedicated to doing exactly this. I'd estimate at minimum (assuming they haven't got better bots since I last saw) the entire group employees between 100-200 people globally for this.
If they have teams (usual 5 to 20) from what I've seen, that just focus on the major channels like facebook twitter etc, I wonder what size teams do they have for the real underhanded shit like subliminal advertisements for channels like Reddit.
You might want to lower your threshold as to the depths of what people/companies will do if it makes profit, just look at the amount of money given to U.S politicians by Coca-Cola. Money flows from Coke to Gov, Gov to Corn Farmers, Coke gets cheaper HFCS for production, Gov gets to make it out like they are "helping out the poor farmer" and Coke gets greater power to amend legislation to strangle smaller businesses and improve their own profitability.
Fat Acceptance most likely arose naturally, but I don't see the same government response to such a massive health problem, compared to what they did for smoking or lead in petrol.
Thus, in my opinion it must meet their goals.

I'm sure the fitness industry is doing the same thing but maybe they need to ramp it up..
