i really feel the need to defend srs. they are not a homogeneous group. obviously a lot of them are HAES advocates and fat logicians, but calling racists, anti-semites, and so on out on their bullshit is not something we should fight. there are sane people over there and most of the criticisms they get is about a policy we have as well: No dissent. [i hope this doesn't count as dissent to fph…]

You may be right but at the same time if a lot of them spout a bunch of HAES crap couldn't that lead to discrediting any argument they make, thus defeating the point? It's like if the crazy person yelling on the corner is usually just talking about being a purple chicken from Pluto, will people take anything he says seriously?

this is the first time i got a reasonable response to defending them, wow :)

i guess you are right somehow, but i think the important part is that they are not one person pushing a single agenda. there is a bunch of sane people in the mass (hehe) of insane people and the points those sane people make are still valid. they have free speech and it's our own responsibility to filter through the bullshit and realise even tough some of them spew HAES logic the points made by the others can still be okay. it's an opinion they would attack, to judge all 70000 srs subscribers by the actions of a few and i feel it wouldn't be just either.

this doesn't really have much to do with fatpeoplehate, but i just like to point out that srs is not a world conspiracy. just some random people like ourselves.
