It shouldn't be spelled that way in any language because it is Bayer's product name for diamorphine. Since Bayer trademarked 'Heroin' it has entered the vernacular to refer to any preparation of diamorphine, much like Hoover or Frisbee are used to refer to any vacuum cleaners or flying discs.

Admittedly the misspelling is somewhat understandable as Bayer used 'Heroin' based on the root German word 'Heroisch' meaning heroic or strong or the Greek Heros (there are conflicting accounts for each).
