I believe from their logic all bodies are "genetically normal". Not eating in this state will make you thin and eating excessively will do nothing - "That girl can eat everything and not gain a pound". As they are fat, and excessive eating does not cause one to get fat, therefore the only explanation is genetic. Add "these scientists said this gene causes obesity", which the research actually states that Gene X has is slightly associated with overweight people.

You can see how they get to their "logical deduction" of the "facts", but this does mean one key thing - they will not question any beliefs. This is the aspect that bothers me the most. If your belief does not hold up to evidence, the belief is wrong and must be changed. This active ignorance bothers me. Obesity is simply anti-intellectualism. I don't care if they die, I do care if they spew bad knowledge into the world.
