Well here we go
My husband is signing up for his workplace insurance as he's turning 26 soon. So we decided to talk to the insurance broker for his workplace, HR set us an appointment.
So we go and talk to this person and she is HUGE. I swear to god. Someone that size cannot talk about health in any respected manner first off. My husband asks about nutritionist coverage, since we've been thinking of seeing one for me, to make a good plan and get a better idea of my BMR being in a wheelchair. And possibly to help with IBS (thinking maybe lactose or something allergic or other). But she thinks its for him and loudly exclaims "YOU'RE ON A DIET??!" And he calmly responds yes, and she asks WHY?? and he said it's a preventative diet to not become overweight working a desk job. Oh the look on her face...she could not understand restricting food at all for health.
Then she talks about how the nutritionist would not be covered under the plan unless a medical condition like diabeetus was the reason.
I legit always thought that was an exaggeration on how fat people talk. She literally pronounced it as Die- uh- beet - us. I had such trouble maintaining a straight face.
She also brought up her own examples of how the health coverage works including that she takes a med for high blood pressure and "has a bit of weight problem" lol. I'd estimate she was about 350 lbs, a BIT of a weight problem?
It was just such a trip to be talked to about all the health services, including preventative available by this waste of resources. I would never hire someone like her. Yeah "size discrimination" exists, because your lack of self control is a direct reflection of your work ethic. If you won't even act with self control to save your life, why would you to meet a deadline or make a report? You won't. You'll laze your way through it and give shit work. And jack up the health premiums for all the other employees.
Shit I'm disabled and pretty sure I use less resources than this fat bitch.

I've noticed that type 1s always pronounce diabetes properly while overweight type 2s often pronounce it "diabeetus" like Wilfred Brimley.

I didn't know that people Actually said it that way

They do, and it's so cringe-inducing. It's also never said matter-of-factly, they always sound like they are either proud of it or seeking sympathy. What's even worse is the ones that say they've "got sugar-diabeetus" or just "got sugar." Unfortunately when type 2s spot my insulin pump they usually feel the need to start a conversation with me. My 85-year old shitlady type 2 grandmother pronounces it correctly at least.

It's two disabilities. Diabetes is something actually genetic. Diabeetus is from eating too many jinetuks
[–] LittleBunnyFeeFee 0 points 1 point 1 point (+1|-0) ago
Yes and no....type 2 has a large genetic component, but obesity is a huge risk factor, so if you're already genetically predisposed to type 2 being overweight drastically increases your chances of having it. Other risk factors are age (being over 40) and ethnicity. That's why only about 30% of obese people are diabetic and about 15% of type 2s are a healthy weight. Everyone knows that type 1 isn't caused by lifestyle, but a lot of people don't know that type 2 isn't always "self-inflicted" even though it is often the case.

Obese people should be forced to pay more for health insurance, or be refused coverage period. This way health costs decline and fatties die off. But will never happen.
If I was a shitty driver I'd pay more for car insurance. If I drove drunk or was always reckless, my license would be suspended. Yet, Healthcare costs are 16% of the US economy. Why? Because people have no incentive to take care of themselves.

And if you bring up the healthcare costs, you'll just get some dipshit crying about how our evil military who bombs innocent babies spends QUADRILLIONS of dollars a microsecond.

I'm actually surprised as many of them have jobs as presently do. If a ham walked in, unless she was somehow an expert in my field beyond all reason, there's no fucking way I'd hire her.

If I heard a fatty in real life say "diabeetus" unironically, I really doubt I would be able to hold in the laughter.
Kudos to you for your tolerance level, OP.

Fat fucks, only they could eat the health insurance; Inpatient hospitalization covers meals.
